okay, so I can’t even tell you how relaxed I am right now. She wasn’t happy at first, but I don’t have to watch her every move. She goes right in her crate now and just lays down and relaxes.

I’ve worked with her a little bit (5 min or so) and made sure she has food and for some water and back in the crate she went. I’ll let her stay out a little longer while I work with her, but this has helped a lot and it’s been a few hours.

    thank you!!

Working on some on leash training with the puppy. He’s good at staying which is pretty cool

Can’t remember if I posted this or not but we added a new Weim to the fam! Stanley (on the left) belonged to a coworker who had a absolutely no clue what she got herself into in selecting a Weim and asked us if we’d take him!
He’s adjusting really well here and is a really cool dog when his exercise requirements are met. He’s helping us take off those extra vacation/Covid pounds with daily walks and hiking 10-15mi per week.

Beautiful weimaraners. I was pulling for one but we ended up with a GSP and wirehaired. Happy with the outcome but one day, I'd like to have a weimaraner too.

Love GSP’s and Wirehairs. If we didn’t have Weims we’d likely have either of those.
Stanley (on the left) is 7months and Stella will be 9 years old this year. They’ll go all day on the trail or chill watching movies all day. They don’t seem to care as long as they’re with you! They can be assholes but I wouldn’t trade ‘em for anything.

I've got two hunting dogs. But seasons are short. So my dogs are 90% for shedding and loving, as well.

Need some ideas if I can get it from you.

The puppy is 9 weeks old, and until yesterday, would not pee in her crate or in the couch. She would just hold it. Occasional accident on wood floor.

that brings us to today. She is pretty much willing to go anywhere. Not only that, she will be every 5 minutes OR LESS. This morning, I would finish cleaning up one spot to turn around to another. Grab paper towels, wipe that one up to turn around to her peeing AGAIN.

Right now, we just had her pee 4 times in 15 minutes. Same issue. Clean up one to turn around to have her doing it again.

Any advice? Should i limit her water? I have heard this could lead to her drinking too much when she gets it

Have you read any of the discussion about about crates and crate training? I know you mentioned the crate but the key is taking your dog from the crate to the pee spot by carrying them. What you're doing is not giving her the chance to pee in the house. You take her to the place you want her to pee (I leash will be helpful if you want a specific place). Put her down, say 'go pee' or something and when she does pee, reward her. Take her back to her crate. The key is until your pup knows the drill, she should be in her crate.

Peeing that often at 9 weeks seems odd

I'd have the vet check for a UTI

I should probably ask how much water is your pup drinking? If you believe it's more than in the past, you should have her checked out. Not just the UTI but there are other diseases where an increase in consumption may be an indicator.

@JimBeam @ian408 , she is drinking too much. My girlfriend read that she may be drinking from boredom. I checked the water and it was WAYYYY down (gallon container on a bowl and it’s about a 1/3 of a gallon gone in less than 24 hours). From what I am reading it should be about 8oz-10oz in 24 hours. I got a bigger bowl because I have her and a cat, but it looks like I’m going to have to limit her and put the bowl up high. I took her out right before I read your responses. Peed right away. As I just started to reply, she peed on the floor again (about 3 min from getting inside). Gotta love puppies lol. Back in the crate she goes

Both are rescues, the Pit Bull is the biggest sweetheart...but I swear this is how she sleeps most of the time. The lab is well...she's a lab. High energy, but a smart/great doggo. In the picture, the lab and I were headed to the vet...incidentally, because her urine output and water intake had increased again. She has stage 2 kidney disease, so we pay attention to her symptoms. She's going back soon for more tests, doctor thinks she might have Cushings too...most expensive "free dog" I've ever had...wouldn't change it though... :)

8-10oz is like a soda can of water. For a small dog, that might be enough but mine (100#) will dust off 64oz, maybe less on a cold day.

The vet might ask you whether your dog has eaten something she shouldn't have. That can affect consumption but at least call your vet and ask for their opinion about consumption. Also, color/darkness/smell of the urine are important.

She has an appointment on 26th for another round of shots.

It looks like for a normal dog, it’s like humans...about an oz of water per lb unless the dog is very active. She is. At 8 lbs, I’m gonna guess she needs about 10 oz. In the last 24 hours she has had at minimum three times that. I’m gonna start rationing it throughout the day tomorrow and see how she does.

    thank you for your responses

My 2 boys, 50lb husky and 80lb husky/gsd, drink around 1-2 gallons day depending on the temp and how hard they play, so 1/2-1 gallon each. They have a 5g water bowl. When the youngest first came home I had to pull the water and give him some every hour or sooner and after play. I also had to take him out on a leash to pee every 15-30 minutes or after drinking. He was bad about going pissin anywhere anytime he wanted. He would do the same thing and go outside and then 5 min later again on the floor. I started keeping him on a leash and taking him out a second time 5 minutes after coming back inside from peeing and trying to get him to pee 2 or more times every time we went out to potty. I also put them outside before I clean up the accident. Read something years ago saying you shouldnt let them watch you clean it up. Not sure how true that is but I go by it even though it didnt seem to make a difference with my youngest pup.

    Yeah.
Personally I would never limit a dog's water. Food, yes, but not water. I'd look for other causes. The 26th is a long way off if she has a UTI.
