OK, So I am on page 47 of what is now 341. Appologies if this comes up, I am trying to get through this entire board....

Are all of the exhaust temps predictive from tables or do we have a direct temp measurement capability in HPT?

@JustDSM I am ready to pull the trigger on this. What's your preference for the best way to work with you?

I just went through the process probably a month ago ish now. Easiest way (for me at least) was to by the dongle with four credits. Once you get those items you install the hptuner software on a laptop. Then insert the dongle to the obd port, ensure the cable is connected to the dongle and laptop. Then it's just a matter of firing up the hptuner software and reading your file. Save it to your pc. Save a copy of it somewhere safe labeled as "factory" or stock just so you know. Then it's a matter of contacting justdsm, PayPal him his fee, email him that stock file. In whatever amount of time it takes (if he is busy) he will email you back a modified file. Save a copy somewhere safe again. Then hook up the dongle, laptop, usb cable again. This time you will write a file. Just choose the file sent back to you. It was at this point it asked for my credits so do that portion. Start the process which takes a few minutes. Just follow the one screen prompts (it will have you go key off to key on a few times). Once it's complete you are done. It sounds like a lot but if you've ever used a like code reader for obd it's not really much harder than that.

You can also send him your ecu to flash as another option. Or find someone local to you who has the dongle.

All things, minus time to get the file back, it took me maybe 20 minutes to do while being my first time. Well it took a bit longer but I spent maybe 5-10 minutes troubleshooting a bad cable....well the supplied cable didn't want to talk between the dongle and my laptop. But it's a basic cable so had the same type laying around

Can anyone confirm that it's ok to unplug secondary o2s once the MIL is disabled?

no such sensor to measure that parameter on a gasser Tacoma. Not sure what it is measuring.

Swapping in y-pipe/headers now thinking about O2 placement. The URD headers don't really have a great spot built in for wideband sensor, it's either middle runner, or bottom of collector with the bungs already on it. AEM recommends it being tilted to drain water so neither of those spots work. One of the secondary O2 spots would probably be ok? Or should I start drilling my new headers to add another bung?

Thanks for confirming, that's what it looked like. Anyone fit an RTD or thermocouple into their exhaust? I am interested in actual exhaust temps upstream of the cats. I suspect that there isn't an easy way to port a probe in with out drilling and welding a bung.

OK, I am calling uncle. Made it to 93 and I am still over a year behind....

What is the verdict for base ECU - Stock N/A or TRD S/C? Right now I am stock with UCON. @JustDSM, where are you at for getting the better tune for the S/C engine? I saw the posts early on about the higher resolution maps, but it wasn't clear which turned out to be better to tune on.

If it is the TRD base I need to find someone to shift me over (I think).

If you’ve fitted the S/C, definitely go with the TRD map or custom tune using the “TRD” Calibration ID.

Great! Are we at a point with HPT that we can go from NA to TRD S/C without me going to the dealership for the flash first? I saw discussion back in the beginning, but I don't think it happened before I gave up trying to catch up on pg 93. I have had the S/C on for almost 2 years running with UCON.

    BT BT

Off to find the cheapest copy of Win 10 I can find to dual boot my Mac.

You can get Win 10 for free from microsoft FYI. No need to buy it. Especially if just using it for flashing. Youll jut have a small watermarks aying to activate Windows (though you dont have to)

I can second this, I just used bootcamp to add windows on my Mac, no need to activate it to use internet and HPT software.
