Which Comes First? Sliders or Rear E Lockers. I'm sure I'm not the First!

Guys been on here just a short time and I'm new to anything other than FS Roads. Wanting to expand.....I'm sure this has probably been asked many times.......so forgive me if I'
m a repeater. But the question is would you consider Sliders or E-Lock for a first upgrade. 2013 Base SR5 4x4 running skinny 255/75/17. Don't want to F my truck up BTW but want to have a little fun. primary vehicle! Which one first or another suggestions Oh yeah other than the rear diff breather mod that's in the works.

 

Sliders 1A. Skids 1B. You can do a whole lot without lockers.

I'm not running lockers. We all did the same trail(s).

Do you have a front skid plate, other than factory?
what type of trails you plan on doing?

I’d start with tires, then front skid, the rock sliders. do an air locker when you really start seeing a need for it(if ever).

 

Sliders are a must and skids are a close second. I don’t have a locker and I go over just about everything the locker having kids do.

Just factory skids! I've read a little on angle approach any suggestions. Mostly Private Land but for sure harder than FS Roads but just by a little.

 

I'm thinking this order as well!

 

Sliders cost about $700(?)

Lockers are about $1400 + $600 labor

Go with your wallet

and meaty larger tires will help out a ton too

skinny pedal action, stacking rocks, and airing down are all free and will make up most times for not having a locker

 

Sliders. The other thing is, you don’t want to experience coming down on your rocker panel and not being able to open your door. Happens all to often.

 

Yeah I would imagine that would suck. Question...Will Bolt on Sliders suffice? And also can you use a highlift with bolt on Sliders? Or would you recommend not buying bolt on sliders at all? Thanks Again.

 

Bolt on sliders work fine. If your wheeling hard, pushing your comfort levels and you know your gonna be coming down hard on things, then I would go weld on.

However, if you bend the shit out of bolt one, well they come off easier. You bend the shit out of weld ons, not so easy to remove.
Sounds like your a good candidate for some solid bolts ons.
I would recommend Demello, MobTown, BAMF or others may suggest other options. AllPro made some stout sliders for the 2nd gens. I had a set

Mainly you want to decide if you want the rear kick out or filler plates to step on.

 

I put out some feelers for ya. Should here back soon. Might be able to score a lightly used set for cheap.

 

@CowboyTaco you still got that skid. @Gen2Tacoma is looking to armor up and is thinking on which pieces to do when. Figured if he can find stuff on a good deal he could get sliders and skids.

 

My opinion is ... if you are going to be where you need lockers, you would need to protect your rocker panels first

Also, I've been on slippery creek boulders, washouts, and slickrocks and I didn't have a locker. open diff. front aluminum diff. survived but yeah I got my money's worth from the rock rails and skids.

I can't remember you have the Skid Plate but do you have sliders as well?

 

I do have Relentless Fabrication weld on sliders, but was not planning on selling those.
