I don't know anything about this brand but the price sure is on par with something you're going to put under the bed and take to the range every once and a while.

I'm seriously considering it.

Yeah I did a bit more internet research sounds like a lot of the folders were in pretty mint condition as they didn’t really get used. Pretty cool to get a somewhat historical/unique firearm at a bargain basement price that if you ever sell you can quadruple plus your money. Wish I had been on that mailing list

 

The fact I was born and lived in Ohio for 42 years just adds to the CooL factor.

 

I was gonna say, I'd save up a little bit more and get a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500.

Just checked grabagun and they have zero in stock.

Gun Broker has several about double what they cost a year ago.

The gun you linked to has decent reviews. If you want it, I wouldn't think too long. Might not last.

 

Has anyone shot a gun inside before (without ear pro?) I’m curious. I can’t imagine your hearing would last long firing a centerfire rifle or 00 buckshot inside. If I were to use a home defense firearm I would get a revolver with subsonic .22LR. Or a can of bear spray. I’ve been feet from an AR with a comp as well as ported barrel shotguns and they are loud with ear pro.

 

God forbid I'm ever in the situation of having to sling lead in my castle but my last concern would be my hearing.

 

Indoor ranges when I was a kid, yes it was very loud. In honor of the thread title though, I couldnt care less about noise in the context of protecting myself in my house. A 22lr pistol would be quieter for sure, but might take multiple shots. Larger cal. would likely be unbearably loud, but I'd rather make one shot to center mass and be deaf. You cant hear when your dead either.

Glock 19, or 17 depending on hand size, with a Surefire X300. (EDIT: A reliable semi-auto pistol...for those of you weirdos who don’t shoot glocks lol)

A pistol is the best home defense weapon you can have, however it’s also the one that requires the most time and dedication to master. If you are in tight quarters, you can easily fight with a pistol. The only downside to using a pistol is the user. ...so train with it.

For those advocating a shotgun and saying that you can’t miss, it’s pretty clear that you haven’t done any sort of pattern testing with factory loads at standard US room and hallway sizes (we’re talking standard-sized Tac shotguns like your 870 or 590, not these mini breaching boom sticks). You can miss with a shotgun. People do it everyday and it’s embarrassing. For those saying the racking sound will scare off an intruder, you should probably just save that for story swapping at the local gun shop.

An AR with a light is all fun and games if you live alone in a home and not in an apt/townhouse/duplex. Your ammo choice also matters here.

Rifles and shotguns come with a huge disadvantage if you have kids or another person you have to get to/control. Not to mention their inherent mobility constraints in tight quarters and while opening doors (should you need to).

Unless you have to get to a loved one, you shouldn’t be in a position where you’re clearing your house. Call 911, put it on speaker, position yourself (offset) with a clear line of sight to your door, and breathe. Let the tool between your ears do the heavy lifting, the rest is easy.

 

I vote hand gun and a bright flash / weapon light

 

Just remember, if you are ever in San Diego California, you are required to keep your "Home Defence Weapon" "stored unloaded in a locked container". - No joke.

 

I believe, but don’t quote me as SD County is different than my issuing county, but a CCW basically exempts you from storage for a firearm on your permit (ie the bodyguard).
The bodyguard can be used as a ‘transitional’ firearm to get to your primary home defense weapon of choice which may be locked up if you prefer something different.

I’m a fan of pistols for home defense, but we all prefer different applications based of our own circumstances/experiences.

 

One of each and keep a canon in the laundry room with a chain load for some real fun

Does this apply if you have a carry permit? And you need to challenge that one. Seems like there might be a state law that over rules it.
