Have you ever tried them? Just look at the moving parts between the two designs. Time has but a spring unlike Shimano. Shimano has a huge following because, they are Shimano. They’ve always had a huge following on all components. Time doesn’t push for a following. Most everybody that has tried Time swears by them.

Never tried them, but I’ve got SPDs with 15 years of riding on them that still work great. Just one of those,” if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” things.

Exactly, I’ve got 3 sets of Times that all are in great working order, only replaced to upgrade. One pair I ran for 8 years, updated from aluminum to titanium carbon body. The aluminum ones on the shelf in working order as a back up. The titanium / carbon ones are still on the bike after 12 years of use. The other pair are identical and brand new waiting for this pair to break. Only bought recently because I had some money burning a hole in my pocket. ;)

That’s really cool man. I’m glad they are working for you.

My point was just that I don’t think the expectation would be that they would be better than a product that is so good that they dominate probably 70-80% of the clipless MTB market.

I didn't say I expect them to be better, I said I'm not sure that they are yet. I wasn't satisfied with my SPDs so I'm trying something new and providing an initial review.

Also, most popular has much more to do with marketing than quality. In fact, I've found that the most popular product in any market is rarely the best.

That’s because Shimano owns the market on just about every component, and have for years. That’s only because of the name they built early on. It doesn’t mean they are better with every component just more known so more people buy their products. Huge money incentives for brands to slap on their products as well. Don’t get me wrong, Shimano products are and have always been top quality but there’s other designs from other brands that outperform in some categories.

It’s 91 here in Colorado Springs with an index of 92. I can’t hang with the southeast’s humidity anymore. Looks like I’m doing maintenance this afternoon.

It’s about 70 and a nice breeze. Really nice when riding under the trees.

    not enough.
bike? good time. beer? good time. water? good time. rafting? good time. Everything is good about that photo.

That said, it's only like 92 here in Utah but it definitely feels a lot warmer. I haven't sweat this much on a bike ride in a long time. :/

Is this the White Water Center in Charlotte? Never ridden there but always been curious as to how it compares to western NC trails

It’s.....fine. If you’re passing through it’s worth a stop. But no comparison to Pisgah/DuPont.

It hit 98° two hours north of you in Loveland. No ride for me today. I did however jump in the river. ;)

Hotter than hell but at least it was only 17% humidity.

I did that yesterday. So nice to be able to escape the heat by driving up.
