    Are the laptop GPUs plagued with driver issues? I really considering a laptop with a 4750U in it.

    Decided to make better use of some recent free time. Figured learning a language would be fun. Just went with python for no specific reason.

    Who wants to clean this up for me or drop some knowledge? Haha.

    Next time, use a code block :D
    Also, code is easier to read with monospace font.

    Code:
    #Antenna length = 486/ frequency (middle of range desired)
    #upper freq = 14350 , lower freq = 14225
    #final length in feet

    def mid_freq(low_freq, high_freq):
       avg_freq = (high_freq +low_freq) / 2
       return avg_freq
    freq = mid_freq(14225, 14350)

    def dipole_eq(freq):
       length = freq / 486
       return length
    antenna_length = dipole_eq(freq)
    ant_length_feet=round(antenna_length, 2)
    print (ant_length_feet)

    Speaking of laptops.
    I have an Asus G73jh that I believe needs a new fan on the vid card. I boot it up, watch the temp rise and it shuts off.

    I redid the tp on both CPU and vid card years ago. (8570)? But I really don't feel like tearing it apart again.

    Is anyone here suited to take on the task?
    I have some important files/software on it and I use the laptop for a portable recording studio when I travel.

    NVIDIA has announced that on September 1st NVIDIA will host a GeForce Event. This event will likely be a moment when NVIDIA announces its GeForce RTX 30 Ampere series.

    The event will be hosted by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. It appears that the broadcast will be prerecorded as the company has not mentioned any live stream.

    NVIDIA is expected to unveil at least two GeForce graphics cards based on the Ampere series, the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080.

    NVIDIA: NVIDIA will broadcast a GeForce Special Event, featuring an address by founder and CEO Jensen Huang, on Sept. 1, at 9 a.m. Pacific time.

    During the event, Huang will highlight the company’s latest innovations in gaming and graphics. Tune in at https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/special-event/.

    Traded in the last one, going to start modifying this soon.
    VScode is pretty decent. I'd say, stick vscode on your laptop (Windows, Linux, macOS), and install some useful extensions: python (you also need to install python binaries from python.org), better comment, git graph, git (and git binaries from gitscm.com), and along your way install decent editing fonts.

    Programming fonts:
    Iosevka (https://github.com/be5invis/Iosevka)
    Recursive (https://www.recursive.design/ and https://github.com/arrowtype/recursive)
    Victor Mono (https://rubjo.github.io/victor-mono/ and https://github.com/rubjo/victor-mono)

    I can't do it but I have a piece of advice for you. Use good thermal pads on laptops if possible instead of paste. Paste is better thermally but not flexible enough to deal with the chassis flex in laptops. Pads will last a lot longer in that application.

    I'd heavily suggest no one preorder the 30 series based on what nVidia says. While performance wise I'm happy with my 2080Ti nVidia did come pretty close to lying about their gains over 10 series with the 20 series in their press launch. It wasn't until reviews hit that we really knew where the new cards slotted in.

    I used this vid in my last disassembly.
    It worked but man, I was a nervous wreck the entire time. Guess I can give it a go again.
    If shtf, I can always salvage my sdd's and try and recover files that way.

    It's an old laptop but it was my 1st gaming laptop and has always served me well. I hate to just toss it.

    I decided I wanted a little extra bling in my case so I found the most budget friendly ring RGB to match my cooler.
    I also now have 3 intake, 3 exhaust, and the PSU fan, I’m curious to see how having an extra intake and exhaust effect my GPU temp.

    Looks great, man. I can't tell if it's the angle of the picture or not, but it looks like maybe some real GPU sag going on there. Stuff like that worries me way more than it should. I put a peg under the GPU on my last build so it was supported by the PSU shroud. It's not the most beautiful thing, but it's peace of mind.

    Thanks! I was noticing that last nigh, there’s about 4mm of sag, I was thinking that either a glass rod going to the “basement” or maybe some fleurocarbon fishing line (nearly invisible) tied to the 140mm fan holes in the top would be good options.

    I used a wooden peg as well on my 770 SLI setup.
    With a short one between the 2 cards as well.
    Didn't care much about aesthetics, just wanted to support the cards better to relieve the stress on the slots.

    Edit: you can probably find an acrylic length of rod easily.
