mine doesn’t have the weird kick the stock tune did but I can definitely feel the power pick up as you climb in rpms.

 

Would there be any way for this software to put the truck in 2WD Lo when I shift into reverse? My wife rides the clutch to keep it from going so fast, I just tell her to park it on the street so I can back it in myself.

Yeah it doesn't kick and lurch like it used to, but the boost in power is still not subtle on 2.0, at least not imo lol but it does happen smoothly I suppose.

 

Truck knows when it's in reverse because it turns rear facing camera on. The rotary switch is just digital I/O to the ECU or some transmission controlller. It "should" be possible.

 

No way yet (but I'm not expecting it to be possible). Mat found 4x4 mode code bits in the ECM but hadn't determined if they were for status reporting or control. I am pretty sure it is only for status. All the 4x4 mode selection is handled in the 4x4 ecu.

Unfortunately no, reverse is just plain too tall in these trucks. I even have issues backing up in 2Hi sometimes. What I can do is sell you a 2LM harness that she should be able to learn how to use very easily.

Just crept over the curb and up my driveway with no foot action yesterday to unload.

 

take the truck to an empty lot or a place that you can move around freely. get out and tell her to get in the driver seat. tell her put it in reverse, DONT PRESS THE GAS. with the brake and clutch pressed it, let the brake go completely. now slightly let the clutch go slightly, still no gas. keep going till you find its engagement point or "sweet spot". you can actually move the truck all by itself in first without even touching the gas. tell her do that till shes comfortable. when shes got the hang of it then she can start using the throttle. tbh the truck is very lenient in clutch engagement.

 

The issue is reverse. Going forward in first gear a monkey could drive this thing.

 

She has been driving manual cars since the Reagan era, and I have no problem with her driving my 360 hp sports car. The problem is the reverse gear ratio on this particular truck.

 

I've read the 2lo harness for reverse it a lifesaver. I need to invest.
It would be slick if ovtune could do this somehow

 

How do people like the ADM with the tune

 

With or without the tune it is a worthwhile (and cheap) mod.

 

ADM + tune + 2lo are the 3 best mods for drivability. Highly recommend

Same here. I can break the unbreakable.

But, just follow the instructions and you'll do fine. Just be sure to have a flare wrench.

 

Any good independent shop with a lift should be able to bang it out for an hour of labor. They may need some guidance on what you're trying to do, but it's not complicated. Just show them the tumor under the heat shield and hand them the hard line. Tell them to replace x with y and they should be good to go.
