A rocket. Hard to believe Dallas pulled this one out with only 35 or so seconds remaining since they just couldn’t find the net the whole game.

 

I am a Habs fan, and unbelievably, Montreal is still in it, up against the Flyers. Hopefully they will be able to grind it out. Flyers beat them 2 of 3 reg season games, but both wins were in OT so I feel the Canadiens have a chance. Go Habs!!

It’s a whole different game in the playoffs so they surely have a chance. Canes dropped all 4 reg season games against the Rangers but they are at the top of their game now and swept the Rangers.
I love the city of Montreal been there 4 times a week at a time but it’s been a while. I particularly enjoyed being there when the Canes beat Montreal a few years before they won the Stanley Cup and got to tweak my Canadian buddies lol. And they had to go through Montreal again in 2006 to beat the Oilers to finally win it.

 

I’ll pull for the leafs because Ontario has my fav place to canoe and fish, Quetico Provincial Park
Unless they play the Canes.

All that talent just to miss the playoffs

 

Another Leaf laying of the egg, as usual they folded like a cheap card table when the chips were down.

 

Two, maybe three players, really that are talented. Matthews, Tavares, and Reilly played well almost every game and gave it their all. Spezza wants to win but he's too old to do much except hit. There are some real pylons though. Nylander is responsible for the first goal today and botched at least a half dozen processions during the game by lolly gagging all over the place. He'd be a flat out fail on a report card. Marner was a ghost. Ceci was flat out terrible. Barrie disappeared. Andersen isn't bad but he coughs up bad goals when it counts. The rest of the team has no heart. Even Clifford didn't try to make an impact when he was out there. Muzzin gets a pass. He played hard up until the injury.

I'm not a burn the team down kind of guy but it's time for answers. Some things they'll fix easily, like dumping Marner or Nylander to Seattle in the expansion draft, but the rest who knows. I really don't know where the Leafs go from here. They can't burn it down, these guys are untradable. Even their value frowards in the middle six were terrible most of the season and are over paid. The hype was there but the team is not. Maybe they make a few trades and figure it out, but I feel like another half decade has been wasted building another loser team in TO.

 

Hard to argue. It's systemic at this point. One has to wonder if a Canadian city team will ever win a cup again. I don't see the Canucks, Flames, or Habs making it deep.

 

Honestly I feel horrible for Tavares. The guy played his heart out tonight. Whenever the Leafs needed the Captain to step up he did. He was dangerous every shift and took all the dirty playoff hits from Columbus without slowing down. He should of had at least the empty net goal in the first and probably one of the two point blank chances he had but he was just snake bitten, probably from the insane pressure of carrying an underperforming team. Matthews seemed to respond to it but the rest of the team didn't. I don't know what to say about him other than sorry the kids around you are all losers.
