Here’s one my buddy made into a gasser before Hot Wheels made it a gasser. Cut the hood for the motor, changed the wheels for real riders and stuck the front axel on top of the base, or underneath depending on how you want to look at it. Added wheelie bars and moon tank up front.

For the front axle did he use the tube that held ink from a pen? The axles fit thru them easy and being plastic they are easy to cut and glue.
I did that on my 55 I posted a couple weeks ago. I improvise all the time. Mine already had the straight axle but I wanted more height.
Looks really good with what he did.

It’s actually aluminum tubing he buys at a hobby shop. He uses it on both front and rear of all his cars. I don’t know the diameter but donor axle from other cars he cuts in half then puts a dab of JB weld on the ends and slides them into the tube that is JB welded to the chassis already. That way he can stick the tires in or out as far as he wants. He also buys a larger diameter tube that he uses for custom side pipes and even drive shafts on some of the trucks he’s made. The 55 he put the tube on top to give it more height.

I was doing mine with what I could find. I was curious what he did. The pen ink tube worked great on mine. His will probably hold up a lot better over time. Working on that small of a scale isn't as easy as 1/24. He has a talent.

What ever works. What I like about that idea is you still have the factory flat nub that holds the wheels on and for open wheel cars you can stick the wheels out past the body. Not sure what chassis this one was from but you can see where he trimmed it to fit the body and used the tube for the axle.

Hot Wheels 1/64 Shelby Cobra Daytona. Hood was cut for blower motor, changed side pipes, trimmed wheel wells just a bit to fit fat real riders, and a parachute on the back.

Greenlight 1/64 panel van. Part of that camouflage set but I can’t find the bug that goes with this bus. I know I have it somewhere.
