    Ive heard them called all kinds of names. I remember seeing my dad change a tire on his 77 Nova. He called it a bumper jack!

    Yes the old ones you were talking about were bumper jacks.
    The Farm Jack, Railroad Jack, High Lift Jack or Kanga-Jack are the names for the 48 inch jack you mentioned.

    The pro eagle extension can be retrofitted onto the Harbor freight aluminum racing jack. Pro eagle sells the extension for around $70 or you can build your own with some tube. Then I would build a belly skid so it doesn’t sink off road.

    Few simple steps and you have a “Poor” Eagle jack for around $150

    I keep an assortment of 6x6, 4x4 and 2x6 blocks, bungeed under my truck box, in case I ever need them to jack from.
