So far they have changed out both the high and low pressure fuel pumps. It’s still in the shop now. Their only comment is that they are working with Toyota corporate to fix the problem. I have a separate thread on this forum dedicated to my problem.

I’m in northwest Indiana, right below Lake Michigan. I’ve only had the truck since May 2020, just three months. It’s been in the shop four times, over 30 days total. I had a 1998 Honda Civic once with a similar problem. It turned out to be a bad solder joint on the fuel pump cutoff relay. Whenever the joint heated up, the connection was lost and the car stalled. When it cooled down, contact was made again. There’s a website out there dedicated to this problem. My guess is Toyota is having a similar problem but can’t figure it out yet or hasn’t communicated it yet

Add a leaf to springs at Deaver Springs Santa Ana.
I believe you may be right, a bad soldier joint. My lack of trust on this 2016 is what made me go get a new 2020. I thought about your issues before buying but I love Tacomas and have had several over the years, always superior performers. My wife's 2009 Tacoma TRD OFF ROAD 4X4 has over 318k miles. She won't give it up.
I read your thread, similar issues but different. My always idles fine, it goes into limp mode, just can't climb hills in limb mode.

Keep service records. If after 3 unsuccessful attempts to fix they will Lemon it and Toyota will repurchase. It is a long-drawn out process though. I had same exact issues in my 2018 and that was the result

Thanks. This my fourth trip to the dealer. It’s been in the shop 31 days now and I haven’t even owned it 90 days. It’s still in the shop even now. The last time I broke down a local Toyota service advisor gave me a ride back while I waited to get towed. I’m glad he came because it didn’t start for him, either. Will keep everyone updates regardless of what happens.

My case was identical and was in on 4 separate occasions. Was in loaner more than my truck. Hopefully you've contacted corporate and have the process started.

Update..the dealer just replaced both the high and low pressure fuel pumps AGAIN. They are now keeping it for a week to drive it around and verify it’s fixed. I contacted corporate and they will get back with me on Wednesday regarding next steps. Six fuel pumps in three months?!? (Original+Set 1 + Set 2)

Wow. So you know how frustrating and dangerous it is. What year was your Tacoma?

but you got over 4 years and 124k on it, so not too bad unless you had other major issues..

After four trips to the shop and change outs of the high and low pressure fuel pumps the problem was a loose wire in the fuse box. No problems since the loose wire in the fuse box was found. You might want to give the wiring harness a gentle push and make sure everything is seated correctly.

    Added Notes:

Trac Off light and Check Engine light are on at start up. While driving, at 30mph, the Trac Off light will shut off, Check Engine light remains on. Trac Off light comes back on when speed is below 30mph....

Thanks for this post and PM about the solution.

I removed the engine bay junction box (Fuse and Relay Box) but never found a loose wire, or anything out of place. I’m curious if anyone else attempted this repair/inspection. Further, if anyone found anything, did you snap some pics? So far, this has happened twice and both times I was able to disconnect the neg battery terminal to get up and running. I’m hoping we can collectively solve this.

    Thanks in advance!

P107A2A Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor (Low) / Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor "B" Signal Stuck in Range

Called local Toyota dealership. No known issue with my make/model.

The small dealership I bought it from will not cover the cost of diagnosis and repair.
