Hello all, I recently purchased a 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport. I have an iPhone 11 paired to the radio. when I first start the car the radio volume is fine. after about 2 min, it drops low, and I cannot adjust it with the car or the phone. then after a few more minutes it cuts out and resumes its normal functionality. Any ideas what would be causing this? Thanks in advance.

Haven't heard this before in the Tacoma. I did have this happen in a different vehicle though and it would do the same thing when I received an email or text or some kind of notification. Turned off notifications and it never happened. I would connect it with a USB cable and use CarPlay and see if it does the same thing. Or connect it with the cable and just use Entune and see how it works if you don't like CarPlay. Also you can try and reset the whole system by holding in the power button for 3 seconds and see if that changes the symptoms. Short of that maybe "Delete Device" in the BT settings and try resetting up the connection?

Welcome to TW! Congrats on your new truck.
I was noticing something similar on my 19 OR. It was working fine until the latest version of the Toyota Entune app was released. I deleted the app I had on my iPhone and this never happened again. May be a bug in their software.

Do you have the app on your phone?

I have this exact issue, it doesn’t happen if I apple CarPlay or wait a min before starting music via Bluetooth. It usually starts low resumes to normal or starts high and push it to low... very annoying when I don’t want to plug my phone in... I’m in a 20 taco as well...

Uninstall it and try it again see if the issue keeps happening

Too many to list. I’m lazy
If you have CarPlay just plug your phone into the usb below the radio. No need to use the Bluetooth

I haven’t used the Bluetooth feature since upgrading to the 2020 with CarPlay. It sucks you have to plug in to use it but it’s so much better.

No I get it, for work I sometimes commute between offices and is just a short drive down the road and it can get quite annoying having the volume shifting :(

I had the exact same issue using an iPhone Xr. In my case, it seemed to be tied specifically to the Toyota+Alexa app. The reduced volume seemed to be tied to a conflict relating to the app being stuck in a constant listening mode. I was on the phone with Toyota Customer Service for an hour, and when all was said and done, I deleted the Entune 3.0 app and Toyota+Alexa app, and the problem went away.

Since then, I reinstalled the Entune 3.0 app only and haven’t had a problem since.

I have done all of these things and have gone as far as having the USB connector replaced when I showed the tech what was happening. They told me it was a software issue with the head unit and Toyota's inability to upgrade with the new versions of phones that keep coming out. Mine has done what is listed and also when plugged into the USB it will always disconnect and attempt to reconnect over and over again. CARPLAY is intermittent at best some days, will not charge my phone even while plugged in as well. If you find a solid fix let us know cause I know more member and having the same issue as you are.
