Yeah its going to be difficult to find a way to open the gate fully. Torklift might be able to help me out with that when I get my hitch installed.

 

I was just playing around with the tire sizes and ratios on Grimm Jeeper and now I'd definitely agree with the 4.88s. 4.56 would be about the same as what I plan to do final ratio wise with 4.30s. But with the extra weight of your tires... do 4.88s!!

 

I would go 4.88 that's just me tho. I've been fully loaded multiple times down to Utah and never once struggled with all the passes. Granted its not towing.

 

Are you going to take that rtt off when you haul the trailer?

I have a super short hitch. Just drops straight down 11 inches, lol. I'm sure any trailer hitch you get will be a better setup than mine for towing that trailer! You gonna do weight distribution or anything like that? or just keep it simple?

 

Yeah my truck is pretty heavy too with all that steel, gear and passengers.

 

Yeah I'm going to get a pretty nice 10k lb Equal-izer distribution/sway hitch installed. Its going to be around $800 installed. The next hitch down was $650 but i was reading these are really nice and its just hitch and go, no need to set the chains or anything.

 

with all of this towing stuff, has anyone added a trans-cooler to their truck yet that didn't come from the factory with one.

 

Oh yeah! I'm probably going to take it off today actually. Store it in the garage. What i want is a hoist so it doesnt take up so much room in the garage.

I've never used one, but I'm sure you won't regret it. I'd want all the help I could get if towing a TT regularly. I have to be careful when loading my trailer to get proper tongue weight, otherwise it sways bad.

Nope not yet, still need to research and figure out which one to buy.

they just buying the factory one, or running aftermarket?

 

Why would you buy the factory one? There already is one unless you don’t have the tow package. I heard good things about the Hayden which are only about 50 bones and triple the capacity of the stock one. Most people replace the stock one when they upgrade but I think it’s a decent size to cool steering fluid

 

I don't have the tow package and looking to add one, so was just seeing what people are doing.

 

Yeah I'd go double the size of the factory one with electric fan either wired to the tstat, or on a switch. It's undersized for sure.
