Brilliant !!! Satoshi Emblem Answer: Converted into Mod Write-Up W/ Pics

I’ve Been thinking About Your Emblem Paint Scheme Dilemma and Have a Solution, If It Were Mine.
You Can do It Scientifically or Just Wing It.
Using ColorZilla, If You Use FireFox, or Use MicroSoft Paint:
You Can Use the ColorZilla Eyedropper on a Webpage Picture of a Magnetic Gray Truck, or Site w/Paint Code (Sample) Swatch
Or in MS Paint the Eyedropper on an Imported Picture of Your Truck,
To Get the RGB (red/green/blue) Values or Hex Value.
Then You Can Use Paint’s Advanced “Edit Colors” Chart to Fill in the RGB Values
Use the Slide (In MS Paint Edit Colors) on the Right to Lighten the Mag Gray 10, 20, or 30 Shades
So There’s Plenty of Contrast to Use as the Emblem Outline Paint.
You’d Then Have the RGB Values for the Lighter Shade, But You’d Have to Get a Small Amount Mixed.
Spray All the Emblem Letters Color Matched Magnetic Gray,
Then (Against My Recommendation) Brush Paint the Outline With the Lighter Shade.
If Light Enough, It Will Contrast Enough to Stand Out, But Still Match, As It Just A Lighter Shade of the Same Color
The “Wing It” Alternative to That Is:
Get a Small Bottle of Mag Gray and a Bottle of White Touch-Up Paint.
Using a Small Plastic Container, Put Ten Drops of Mag Gray and one Drop of White.
Adjust By Adding More White or Mag Gray ‘til You Like the Amount of Contrast,
Remembering the Final Amounts or Equivalent Ratio, If You Need to Mix More.
Then Paint Like Hell Before the Mix Dries.
Another Method Might Be, Pick Up a Can of Light Gray Spray Paint, You Think Matches.
Tape and Spray The Outline in the Lighter Color, After the Overall Mag Gray Coats.
I Just Read This and It Almost Confused Me. So If It’s Not Clear, Get Back to Me for Clarification.
Final Product Will Be Worth the Effort, Just Don’t Rush.

Thanks for the advice. Everything is on hold right now because, due to work and other obligations, I will not be able to pick up my grill assembly until next Thursday. I won't be able to mark for the drill holes until then.

I think I will start off by just painting the emblem mag grey. If it doesn't stand out enough I'll look to paint a lighter outline (grey/white?) to it. I like your idea of messing around different configurations on Photoshop or something similar but I'm not too computer savvy with photo editing programs.

I bought a marker for model cars that has gray paint and painted the outline of the letter it was fast and easy. All for the low price of $3.86

I've been very busy with work but I really want to get back into this emblem project.

UPDATE:
Got my satoshi back from the paint shop. Came out very nice.
Emblem is expoxy'd.
Next step is measuring, marking and tapping.

I finally got a hold of a #4-40 bottoming tap and access to a drill press. I plan on using some scrap plastic to get the depth set up correctly. I admittedly do not have any experience with taps let alone tapping epoxy/plastic. Should I be concerned with the tap trying to suck up the emblem? Maybe use a couple grip clamps?

Drill Press with Depth Stop for drilling the Holes
HAND Tap!! I used a Tap "T" Handle, with the "T" Portion removable.
Take the "T" out of the handle and use it like a Screwdriver to Thread the Tap in by hand.
You can use one with the handle in, but only turn the Barrel, not the "T".
Too much leverage with the "T" and You won't "Feel" the threading
It should take 5-6 complete 360° revolutions, depending on the depth you drilled
4-40 screws have 40 threads per inch, therefore, 5 threads per 1/8"
Letters are about 3/16" thick, so 6 threads should be easy if the holes were drilled as deep as possible, without breaking the surface of the letters.
Stop tapping as soon as it starts binding, keeping and eye on the front of the letter.
You'll feel it binding, but count the revolutions, to keep track of how deep You've gone.
The Drill bit is pointed, but the Bottoming Tap is flat and won't go as deep as the bit.
Push it further (slowly), if you feel comfortable with it.
I had a couple of bumps I had to sand, 'cause I drilled almost to far.
You'll start to distort the Letter surface if You drill or tap to far, but You should be able to see it if You watch it.
It can always be filled with epoxy or finishing putty, if you break thru.
You'll be cutting the screws with a Screw Cutter, and that'll leave a sharp leading edge on the threads of the screw, which will dig into the bottom of the hole, and act as a Tap (a little).
I cut one screw, multiple times, until it was the right length, then cut the rest to match
When I was tapping by hand, I was more concerned with stripping the threads when I bound up and bottomed out, than I was of breaking thru.
You might go back and read my Post #43, as I probably missed something here and there's info on the hardware I used.

Good Tapping and keep us up to date (and Pics when done).
I'm sure I can come up with some more answers, if You've got more questions.
It's pretty easy, so enjoy yourself and take your time.

I tried to thred it. It was to much trouble i used the squares from home depot epoxied them to the emblem and zip tied it. Worked out great.

 

how do you open your hood? If u can't grab the latch

 

You can open it. It works the same way you pop the latch and "wala"

 

Is a Dremmel cutting wheel the best tool to use to cut the aluminum grille to fit behind the grille assembly?

No that takes forever. I used a saw saw to cut the plastic and a grinder with a cutting wheel to cut the grille. Like a hot nife threw butter

 

Like an angle grinder hey... looks like I need to pick up a new tool.

Thanks, the subtle touch is the grill surround is color matched also, but not noticed much. I think that's what makes it clean

Threadin' was a PITA, but I'm anal. Whatever works to get 'em on. Good you got 'em fastened.

I cut an opening in the top of the grill surround (See above 2nd "T" in my Sig Pic), but never adapted the release, because I could reach the release between the hood and grill

I used aviation tin snips. took a while. Probably about the same time as a Dremel. Grinder would work nicely, but I was listening to the Music that day.
Music?...........Grinder?.........Music WON.

But You couldn't hear the Music
