That wont happen anytime soon, would not expect any drivetrain changes until the 4th Gen comes out.

No worries bud! Do wish we could get a TRD OR AC MT here like our Canadian neighbors can.

Every time I see an ACLB OR with canadian plates, I just go ahead and assume it is an MT.

Good luck getting your hands on one!

I had to wait until November for my 2020. They may be available by mid October. If you order it's full price vs 2020 discounts if you can find one you like.

2nd Gen S/C option that only adds 80hp for 5 grand (not installed) is beyond ridiculous, pretty much insulting..... not to mention Toyota stopped offering it. Aside from great reliability we all appreciate, Tacos are soft when it comes to power (off the lot)..... with the offerings by other auto makers, I really hope Toyota steps it up....

80hp is a really nice bump. That's only $63/hp. I have not looked one over, but I would assume the install is not challenging? The tune flash was probably the restricting element at the time that it was offered?

On paper, the Tacos are down in output, but on the road, I have not seeing the issue. I have hauled loads and towed light stuff with no issue. I am curious to see what a heavy load feels like. No opportunities yet, but I would like a travel trailer someday.

At least on the 3rd Gen MT side, we seem to be spot on with the gearing, which would be slightly overgeared. That seems to work?

Stock AF. My 68 Bronco and 2000 2.5RS get the mods.
Didn't they get the 4.44 diffs like the FXT? Quick little shits, they were. Faster to 60 than an STi, iirc.

I'm keeping an eye out for any little niceties that might show up on the 2021s that I could put in my 2020. Who knows what that might be but it's worth watching, I think.

Plus thats stock. Plenty of guys running smaller pulleys and tons of other upgrades on those S/Cs.

Not sure why peeps buy a Taco and them complain about the power. Like, did you not test drive it? Did you expect a Hellcat? lololol

Yeah, they had the 4.44. Basically was a FXT with that heinous body. Super rare and fun as hell to drive. Was definitely all about the drivetrain and motor like all Subarus... until the whole thing exploded it's HG's at 100K. God I love Subarus

I believe that was only the first MY or two for the Forester XT. They realized that was a mistake. But, our 2014 FXT is pretty quick and corners and brakes well. Just uninspiring to drive.

    True.

I have the same thoughts. I generally compare it to older full size trucks, much heavier with only a bit more power. I remember seeing those guys crawling up hills when towing. That is where I set my expectations along with reliability that will outlast them. I am just not expecting the equivalent of a smaller version of today's full sizers and honestly don't want that.

Interesting. I didn't know the Baja turbos were in that same camp.

Funny thing there. Supposedly that is all goodness with the new motors, but now we have been in twice for VVT sprocket / ECU replacements. One at about 55k and the other at 67k. Thankfully, there was a lot of goodwill and a great dealer supporting it. We're finally getting the story that the recommended OCIs are not good.
