Yup what the other two said. Hit up your local Yota dealer and bring in a printout of TSB 0062-18. Here is a link. https://toyotatalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Tacoma-T-SB-0062-18.pdf
Click it. Print it. Take it in and explain on your last vacation trip you were in the mountains and you experienced the "stumble at wide open throttle". They should then flash your ECU. Took 2 hours for me. And you'll be at 04B04 and you can OvTune your truck with the 04B04 files from the Ov website. I noticed a big difference with the ECU flash from the dealership before even doing the OvTune. I drove around a week with the 04B04 update and I can't believe I waited so long to get it done. Especially when it is free! This TSB update is good for 8 years and 80,000 miles from the time you purchased the truck.

Good info, but if folks have the OVT kit, it is a 10min job at home:

lol i just bought ovt. i dont even have it in my possession, and already talking about what ifs and hypotheticals :playball:. also that same dude that will probably find a way to incorporate sprint booster into my driving style after getting tuned cause i liked it so much. had it on sport 9/race 4 as the trucks sweet spot. will probably turn it down to sport 4 based on the feedback i been reading about the tunes throttle sensitivity. the ultimate plan is to get boosted though. no doubt about it :lalala:.

@tonered knows what he's talking about, with his links and answering a couple questions, loaded the latest tsb for my truck myself. Don't care for my closest dealership, I've got trust issues. Lol

Is the initial post in that thread still up to date?.. is it like this thread (it too has 160 pages) where the info has evolved over time? I feel sorry for the poor souls that are just learning about OVTune TT offering and attempt to digest this entire thread.

Since there has been a lot of interest lately and the OP moved on to a Tundra, I got ownership of the 1st Post last month, updated it to clarify some stuff, and add in the latest TSBs.

What do I gain by going O4B04? Shouldn't the tunes end up with the same results???

If I'm 04B02 and I download OVTunes for that ECU, or if I update to 04B04 and get those OVTunes, don't I end up with the same results??

Mat suggests upgrading when possible. There are often code changes in the TSBs that are independent of Mat’s work.

Each tsb update smoothed out the tranny some, OVtune builds on each of those. They are kinda like the foundation that he works from. I could tell I difference, I ran both 04B02 with 2.0 stock 87 thx and upped mine to the 04B04 with 2.0 stock 87 thx, definitely better, feels smoother on shifts.

No. Mat cannot include the ECU updates in the tune files because the ECU updates change data files and software programming. Mat's tune files only change data files. To get the benefits of the programming changes you must update to the latest ECU revision.

Do I need to flash back to stock before going to the dealer for TSB Update to OSB04?
