Not sure if Maine would accept this because it is not from Toyota. Thanks for the info though, I'm pretty sure they will accept the Certificate of ownership i sent them. I'll post here when i receive the title, should be about 30 days or so.

I hear the 2016 Tacos are built in Texus or Baja Mexico.

considering we got fucked and have nothing you get.
cant get JBL without getting limited
cant get TRD OR double cab

Guarantee we wont get the TRD Pro.
I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer doesn't even know what the TRD pro is, and will say the TRD sport or OR is the TRD Pro lol.

    But for OP
If the laws in the states are any bit like the laws in canada for buying and bringing back. Its very expensive almost not worth it.
I was looking into it at one point since diesel full size are much cheaper down there.
I found this (at least for NY)

    1. Dealers down there have been told not to sell to out of country residents
    2. If you do find a way to buy it, the taxes to bring it back are insane, not just the 13% HST, but an additional 15% taxes
    3. Needs to be updated to meet our safety standards (daytime running lights, front license plate)

So the DRL isnt a problem in the US, and the US dollar is much higher so youre set there, but not sure if dealers will sell to you, and the taxes to bring it back might be very high.

These aren't problems you'd run into at the border but when you go to register it in your home town at the MTO.
I can't see it being that different in the US to canada, so probably not worth it

When I was looking into it, what I thought would save money ended up it would've cost me almost 12k more

bring from US to Canada, with current exchange rates not as attractive as a few years ago. as far as the paperwork look up RIV.com it's all there adding day time running lights and license plate issues not much of a problem.
taking it Canada to US easy and they'll save a ton of $

I checked RIV and contacted the CBSA and Ontario ministry of transportation

They all gave me large numbers. Plus it would've been hard to get american financing when I am a canadian resident.
But either way as of right now NO thanks, with our dollar in the shits I'll pass.

But yes for americans if its not a high tax then import it will be much cheaper.
Will just need to convert speedo OR god forbid learn something metric...

...have you ever actually talked to a sales man that knew anything about the vehicle he was selling?
I had one sales rep tell me all tacos come with locking diffs both front and rear...

I was just at the canadian auto show last week and didnt see the TRD sport so asked one of the girls from toyota. she said yes its right here and showed me the OR
I just shook my head and walked away. I've never understood how a sales rep can be so uneducated on what they sell lmao.

Sometimes iwant to get a hidden camera and just go ask stupid questions and see what kind of replies i get

All Canadian tacos are from Texas. End of story.

The Only off road we have is a access cab

    All short boxes are manual

OP your slip the dealer should have it, it comes with every new vehicle or piece of equipment. Odds are the tech threw it out during the PDI. It's also known as a birth slip

speedo's are in both. just a little harder to see the miles scale. If you're buying a 2016 you can change the dash display to miles

16 trd sport Upgrade package DCLB
KO2 tires, TRD pro rims. BP skid plate, Extang 2.0 cover, dipped grill and badges
I'm also considering selling my 2016 inferno TRD Sport DCLB auto if anyone in the US is looking for a new-ish truck.
    1100km (680miles)
Skid plate (still have air dam)
    TRD Pro rims
    KO2 265/70/17 tires
    Bug deflector
All badges dips, custom box decals
    Extang 2.0 tonneau cover
Great thing about Canadian TRD's…tow package, all wether mats, door sills, mud fenders…all standard.
I'm in Calgary (200km from border).
    Pm if interested.

This is great information. Last time it was $1.50+CDN for $1USD (15+ years ago) I was looking at BMW's north of the border. Comparable BMW's are about 10% more dollars in Canada so it seemed like a bargain. I was looking for somebody who had first hand experience with importing a new vehicle. At the time new vehicle warranties were only valid in the country the car was purchased.

Most of the people you run into working at autoshows are college students or are from 3rd party companies and not actually sales reps.

I sold my Canadian 2016 Tacoma last month to a nice fellow from portland. It was painless because i did all the paperwork.

Unfortunately the us dollar has lost value recently and the difference between a us and canadian model price is almost not worth the trouble.

There is more money shipping cars to china these days..........
