Bilstein 6112

You would be happy with 5/4. But also take into account the springs will settle a bit

 

The lift was installed on July 15. Vary little settle, but was thinking the same thing.

 

Does this help you with what you need to figure out? I clipped this straight from the 6112 install instructions. I have my truck set at 5&4 position and I got about 1.25in of lift over stock and the ride is still very nice! I also have Durobumps installed which do make a difference. Keep in mind tho my truck is as heavy as you can get right outta the factory with the double cab long box.

 

Could be due to the fact that the 5160 isn't meant to handle the lift that the Dakars provide?

 

The OME Dakar Leaf Packs are meant to be paired with the OME 60091 Nitro Charger shocks.

The Bilstein 5160 actually has 1/2" more travel than the OME 60091 Nitro Charger.

Those of you running on the 6/5 setting what size tires have you been able to get away with?

 

@CemenTRDgen is correct. The new 5160's are made to support the medium dakars being the same articulation numbers as the ome rear shocks made for the dakars.

How long did it take yours to settle? I'm well above the 1in for 4/3 right now but I've only put 250 miles on it.

 

The settling is going to play on a numer of factors, if you have an ac, a dcsb, or dclb, weight put in the truck and so forth. I have a dclb at the 4th setting but I have a 2nd gen and it took about 500 miles to settle in nicely.

 

285/75/17. But had to CMC and remove mud flaps/ trim plastic etc. had 285/70/17s oh before without issue

I am not sure the mile count but for me it was a good 4 to 6 weeks before they really settled in. That included wheeling trips and dd to work and back in SoCal. I did notice how much stiffer (although not bad) the front was before they really settled in. Now with less pre-load since they are not maxed out at top notches the ride is super smooth yet still stable. For the price I do not think the 6112's can be beat.

 

I definitely enjoy the changes to the ride quality and enhanced performance over the stock OR suspension. I was mostly curious so I can make plans to lift the rear if needed. Right now I'm close to 3/4" high in the front and want to resolve that issue. I'll give it some more time. Thanks!

 

I know the 5160's are the preferred rear shock to compliment the 6112's but hows the ride with 5100's in the back with 6112's?

 

I had 5125 (extended 5100). Rode great, more travel than a 5160.

 

Give it a month and then decide if you either want to put a block in the rear, lower a notch on the snap ring, or get a new leaf pack. I have Alcan's in the rear and it just comes out that the rear is about .5in higher than the front which is just where I wanted it.

 

I had the 6112 front and 5100 rear setup at first. A month later I bought the 5160's. Honestly there is a minimal amount of difference but for me I noticed the rear shocks would get really hot on the trails so the res helps with that. Plus the 6112 and 5160 are designed to pair together. I do know that the ride quality is great with the setup I have now on and off road.
