Sturgis is going on right now. 60% of the townspeople voted against it going on but the city council suggested that people would show up regardless so why not just hold it and make the money. All Sturgis residents will be offered free covid tests in the coming weeks after the event is over.

I was there way back in 2001 for the rally and just rode through there in 2018 when I went to Spearfish for a FJR forum meet. Town population is 7,000 but during the rally swells to as much as 625,000 in a good year. They're calling for about 250,000 this year. The town actually puts up traffic lights for the rally that don't exist for 50 weeks out of the year. Many of the bars like the Full Throttle Saloon only open for 10-14 days out of the year.

Interesting side note - monies raised from fines during the rally all go to their school district. This helps deescalate the anger some drunks seem to feel when they get arrested. LOL.

They didn’t want to miss out on the $600,000.00 in sales tax for the two weeks and that’s just Sturgis. That’s not counting all the other towns in a 150 mile radius.

I rode to work today and this afternoon thermometer on bike showed 100 degrees. Dropped to 96 on my way home.

That’s all too hot. It was like 86 here on my way home today but maybe 20% humidity. Perfect.

Yesterday when I was out riding I took a video of a ride by on a gravel road, thought I was going to look fast (probably doing 40?) and it looked slow AF hahah. Got a decent screen grab out of it though.

lol. nice. do you need me to find the quote where I said they sucked and people argued that it was pretentious to think those little turds weren't big enough, or can we let that rest and refer back to my list of acceptable sumo candidates ty :boink:

Fun bike so far! Im still in the break in period, so Im not going over 6k rpm. But Ive already put 400 miles in a week and a half. Hoping to get the last 220 miles pretty soon. Then it will be much more fun!

Sucks that the newer ones cant turn off ABS though. And Im having a couple issues where either I am missing shifts, or the bike is. Also my battery isnt holding a charge for more than 3 days.

Exhaust ordered, rear axle slider comes tomorrow, and my tank bag came in yesterday. The mirrors suck, and Ill be replacing those with some generic BikeMaster round ones eventually.

you cant turn ABS off? I find that odd. They're known for some imaginary neutrals between gears..it kind of went away on mine as time went on and is very sporadic now and usually only when im lazy and pussy-foot a shift..really a non-issue for me. The battery doesn't sound right but at least its under warranty obv they'll look for a draw somewhere when you get your 600mi service done and tell you nothings wrong w it haha. so annoying. definitely a fun go-anywhere bike. As years go by, I like it MORE than I did when I got it I think - congrats. LMK when you're ready to mod - ive spent way too much on subtle improvements

Yea, its not in the settings anymore. I suppose I could pull the fuse. Actually, my friend/salesguy said if I do excessive wheelies, the ABS would turn off. I have a security thing, where i can enter a PIN. That might be something.

I ordered the Competition Werkes slip-on. I think Ill eventually get the booster plug mod, a fender eliminator, and a skid plate. And I read on their forums that Multistrada footpegs will fit? I definitely want something a little wider, but I dont want to pay $250 for the Scrambler ones. Other than that, I just want to ride it.
