Dude, $55k is nothing now! My GMC SLE (not even an SLT let alone a Denali) stickered for $49k. The prices of vehicles is really getting out of hand.

You can probably spend $50k on a reasonably equipped Explorer with AWD and you better like cloth seats!

Raptors start around 55k, explorer ST starts around 55k according to the google for both, both option up probably about the same - raptor probably has some extra boxes it can go to, I know they trend closer to 65 to 70.

Oof. Is that included in the frame warranty though?

Trucks and SUVs more than anything else, sedans and hatchbacks still reasonable, but people want a truck or SUV etc so they can charge more for it just 'kuz (plus chicken tax). People want it, they'll pay for it. If they wanted value and price alone, they'd go for a sedan instead so SUVs and trucks go up up up.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
They don't even balance semi truck tires. They don't usually vibrant at all either!

I wonder how that is? Maybe Noel @Noelie84 can explain that one?

    That sucks!

I didn't know that. I saw something for the 450-550 trucks that goes between the wheel and the hub, sort of like a spacer, but it has fluid in it and acts like a balancer (I'm guessing similar to beads).

The use a substance called 'equal' or 'tire sand' which is basically fine beads. Break open a bag and dump it into the tire, and as the tire spins it settles the grains against the outside of the carcass and balances the tire. So when you first start rolling the tire isn't balanced, but once it's moving fast enough to vibrate inertia has already moved the Equal into place to balance it. It's not as effective on cars and trucks because of the size of the tires being so much smaller. I'm not sure on the exact physics of it but it has to do with rotational speed, suspension differences, etc.

Don't believe it is included in frame warranty and would probably guess it's outside that time frame, not to mention I wouldn't want to deal with it. Body also looked great in pics but not so much up close. Vehicle prices are absurd for anything right now and inventory is way low. Less than a month to go and might just extend her lease a little longer.

Got ice cream at sundae school though

Dynamic balancing. They're marketed for off road passenger vehicles too, basically a bag of BBs you pour into the wheel, as it spins up the beads can adjust the balance to be where it needs to be. Not sure if they're worth a damn or why they're marketed to off roading more than anything else at the passenger vehicle market.

Probably because old school mud tires were a bitch to balance. Also, there tends to be a much taller sidewall with off road tires meaning you'd have to put a lot of weight on the rim to correct an imbalance at the tread. Tread can also 'chunk' causing an imbalance and you can lose wheel weights off road riding also. All those get corrected by balance beads (in theory).

Probably because they're adaptable. Bend a rim, shift a belt, tear a lug, and a conventionally-balanced tire will need to be rebalanced. With the sand it'll self-correct (to an extent). But the sand isn't as good as conventional balancing for on-road driving.

My town has 4 (yes. Four) golf courses in it. One is proposed to being sold off and developed and oh my god are people mad. It’s a private country club and most of the members are from out of town and they’re just grumpy that it’s being developed. Gotta love it. How long they expected 4 golf courses to last in a small town in Rhode Island, and benefit the community, and be sustainable, and bring in revenue etc is beyond me.

If he's planning on hiking tell him to get up here early. The trailheads are pretty packed since it's about the only thing anybody can do since Covid hit.

well contacted the lease company. I will be awaiting paperwork to extend the lease an extra 60 days, and it is pretty damn early to be saying this but we are def going to need a bigger vehicle :D +1 to feed

So if their not on cars or trucks where are they using it?

I'm sorry but it sounds like Snake oil to me.
If the Tire manufactures could be less accurate on building their tires and throw a pound of sand in with every tire they sold to the car builders, they would have done this 50 yrs ago.

What happens when you get some moisture (which is bound to happen) in the tire and the sand or beads freezes?
Then your going down the road going CLUNK, CLUNK?

Nope, this is as bad as the Nitrogen sellers.
