I have never “backpacked” before, but I’m planning to dive in head first and do the pinhoti for my 30th birthday

Let me know if you got any questions. We have hiked all over the Pinhoti. The Chinnabee Silent trail to the top of the Pinhoti is an amazing hike. It was built by a group of blind and deaf scouts a long time ago.

    Only the best.
When my truck was stock i ran them in a 265/85/16 C load(lighter weight and softer than D or E load) and i absolutly loved them in everything but thick mud. They excelled in sand, on the road, rocks, gravel, and even did well in more soupy mud. I put almost 18,000 miles on then before i went up to 33's and they barly wore at all. They were the best AT's ive ever ran and will be putting a set of 245/65/17's on my wifes highlander before long.

Went on a trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and its all thick deep sand up there and they kicked ass. I used to live up there and have ran several sets of at's while there and nothing compared to these things.

Bottom pic is on a lake Superior shore line, thick deep sand lol.

I'll even give you our gear load out, for a weekend of backpack camping. Food, water supply, fire, and shelter.

Probably not but, I can fit just about everything I was carrying in totes in the deck and the attic I got from Blue Ridge Overland. Only two things I’m worried about is camp kitchen and Yeti. My Yeti is the large with wheels. So might have to work up a trade for a different one with someone who wants one with wheels.

I can promise you this; after you and your wife go on your first long weekend backpacking camping trip, you'll figure out real quick, what you need and what you don't need.

I would also recommend Osprey or Gregory packs. Some of the best in the business and keeps the load on your hips and not your shoulders.

I bought a flash a week ago. The one i bought on Amazon got lost and i got refund. Maybe it will show up still on a few weeks and I’ll have two. They offer 15% discount on Their website. Also found the below for it too.

Dehydrated meals and water purifying systems can save your pack about 20lbs.

My wife wants nothing to do with this trip, but I can probably convince her to do 50ish mile trips. I’m trying to convince a friend of mine to do it with me. I’m unsure if I’ll actually do the whole thing or just part at this point. I want to do the whole thing but I don’t know if it’s feasible.

I pretty much only buy osprey bags. Great quality and awesome warranty. I have a full assortment.

nice. the only reason I am considering propane is dampness starting a small wood stove.

    how do you like it?

Haven’t used it yet. Bought for coffee mostly. Figure when me and son go on guys trips we will use with MRE so we don’t have to pack full stove and as much gear. That little storage bag I can fit the stove and two small propane tanks in main compartment and then what ever else in the smaller one. Sporks and what not.

Damp outside? Carry some fatwood. You can start fires in the rain with that stuff.

Wood burning stove all the way! Of course I’m a pyro, so it makes sense for me!
