Anyone in the Portland area that would be able to help a dude flash OV tune on his first Tacoma? Will compensate. COVID free. Will buy beer/grass as well to sweeten the deal

Probably interested in an AT tune. Maybe even just the update to the latest ecu tune.

I'd love to get a tune on my TRD Pro Auto. I'm sort of new to this and haven't really figured out what I need from their website. Any help would be awesome. I'm in SE Portland.

If you want to come up this way, I'd be happy to help. Otherwise, it looks like @cemented might be your guy?

Unless you are talking about buying the OVT vF kit outright? If so, you'd need the vF software ($199), Tune Pack ($390), and the OVT cable. You can either get it from OVT or tactrix.com for $170. That is the least expensive adapter that is known to reliably flash our ECUs. You can do a lot of other stuff with it using TechStream.

Yes. That is the vF software and OVT / Tactrix bundle. That will get you the basic software for editing a tune on an ECU. You would either need the Tune Pack for your ECU or work out a trade with someone for the tune(s) that you need / want.

it's not a loaded question if you're specific. worth it for what exactly? for a general answer it's only hell yes from here. because most of us can't hardly deal with a muted motor that we bought that runs weak. but for a MT driver performance is super important. for an AT, well, that's up to you.

Yes, it is worth it. For me, other than the MPG bump that pays for the tune in savings over 5yrs, the drivability difference is nothing short of amazing. Add to that the big torque bump below 3,500rpm and you have what should have been delivered to us from the factory.

Makes sense. It is sluggish, I've been wanting to do a super charger or TT, but can't find a good solution and anyone local who can install it. If I aspire for forced induction, I'm wondering if I should hold off. When I had my Z06, I needed to retune after the super charger.

The OVT TT kit is lusty. Some folks have said that the goodness of the 2.0 tunes have made them rethink the FI situation.

Myself, I love hearing turbo spool. Even turbo lag is something that I enjoy to a certain extent also. That is far down my priority list though.

But yeah. If you are thinking of FI, you will need a tune. OVT is currently stepping back on efforts to support FI kits from other companies for now. But, I would expect that to change as he gets stabilized on his kit and the other offering get going.

Life gets in the way of mods sometimes. :D

I don't know of anyone in GA but am sure their would be someone. I did talk with @PapaRee , just in case I was sticking my foot in my mouth. He said that he'd be happy to help you if you get out his way. Be sure to wear some LSU gear, just in case.

I need to study up on this. So if I buy the kit and software, will I get the 2.0 tune? Or, is there some sort of order or something I'm missing?

Yes. What has been recently said is that OVT will offer a limited warranty with the TT kits. You have run it as delivered using a locked tune that he will provide.

The only current issue is that he is getting ready to ship the first batch of 25. I believe new folks would be on the next batch?
