Which AAL or does it really matter?

I have the Wheeler's Single AAL, with the overload in. got about 1.5" lift in the rear. rides a bit stiff, because I don't have any extra weight in the bed. I also replaced my stock leafs when I installed it, with stock take-offs from a 2018 or so, that had about 2000 miles on them

Considering going to a progressive 3 leaf AAL soon, and ditching the overload to make the ride a bit more comfortable.

So to stick a pin in this since there were a few followers. I ended up going to Midway Spring & Trailer in Afton MI and it turned out great. They added in a single long leaf just under the top leaf in the pack. It may settle a smidge, but I gained right around 1.75" which basically put me at or just above stock height (I can't really tell) and the shock has plenty of travel both directions. After a bit of driving the ride quality is also spot on. More money than the wheeler single leaf...but I'm really happy with the solution.

Are you planning on lifting the front? If so that should level it out because it looks a little rear high right now. You might get a little settle, but I wouldn't expect much more than a 1/4" or so with that leaf.

 

Not any time in the immediate future at some point I'll grab a better picture since that one makes it look more exaggerated, but I like a little bit of rake on pickup trucks...maybe I'm crazy. It drives great though no more bouncing off of the bump stops. I'm also looking forward to seeing how it sits with my bikes + camping crap.

 

I'm with you on appreciating a little rake. These ass draggers that I see all the time with the lifted fronts and lowered rears make me cringe.

 

Grabbing a hub to fender measurement is the best way to keep track of actual height.

 

Yep, the measurement in post #23 is from the bumpstop to the frame, which as I'm typing I realize would be impacted by the additional leaf by ~.25" so in reality it picked up 2 inches. Unfortunately I never had a measurement stock without the weight in the bed.

Just looking for something to bring the rear back up after adding a canopy. Will be doing a full leaf pack replacement when I do a lift in the future.

I will never understand why people want to level their trucks. Doesn't look right without a rake IMO. To each their own.

 

I took a shot with them for mine and been running them for a while. Rides pretty much the same. Only thing I did was replace the center pin with one from wheelers as the ones that come with it are cheap

 

Rides the same, as in the same as stock, or the same as stock plus a canopy / other weight in the back? Unclear if they helped at all.

 

I have a camper shell and it rides the same as factory IMO

 

I did the same thing with positive results. The best thing about the Wulf AAL is the air freshener you get with your purchase. That thing smells good!

 

I would say mine is back to stock ride quality with the plus that I'm not bouncing off of my bumpstops on the regular anymore.

Seems like y’all got it figured out but I wanted to give another vote for a single AAL. I have a 2” single from Tusk and it’s great. Rides stiffer but far more controlled, especially with a load.

 

Probably level.


I never understand why people are obsessed with a “leveling kit” for their empty pickups......when u put shit in it it’ll be level. Unless they like that fake pre-runner ass dragger look.
