Well I was making a joke about the picture.

You’re right though, I’m super embarrassed. Thank you for helping me identify and accept my insecurities. lol

Dude I’m the last person you’ll find that will defend a short bed “truck” lol. SB trucks aren’t trucks, they are bastardized abortion creations that have identity issues. I only have this because diplomatic sales doesn’t get regular shipments of DCLB Tacomas here and I wasn’t going to wait 13-18 months for a custom build to get shipped over.

For what it’s worth, the DCLB, and all other “trucks” discussed here are called “cars” in every other place than North America. Even the Ram and Chevy bros are driving cars. A “truck” is generally something 5 tonne and upwards.

When I first got my truck, I put a quart of oil in there. Of course our trucks don’t use oil so I removed it. Then I completely forgot about them. Once in a great while, I notice them and think “Oh, cool!”. They will be perfect for something...someday.

So the rest of the world calls a Hilux a car? No one is describing vehicles to the police when reporting a hit and run by reporting a non-commercial truck as a car. Don’t be the guy that starts quoting vehicle registration and classification standards for various nations man, that’s just weird. We aren’t discussing engine taxes, plate categories, or vehicle inspection requirements lol.

Yes. Hiluxes are “cars”, in common speech, in most English speaking countries outside North America. In Australia and South Africa for instance, they are cars, as are Land Cruisers. Watch some YouTube vids to educate yourself if your mom lets you have access to the internet.

They are all classified as “passenger vehicles” in Australia. What Americans call “pickup trucks” fall into the “Ute” category.

We are not talking about classifications. People call ‘em cars. A UTe is a type of car, same as a hatchback is type of car.

“Hey mate, what type of car do you drive?”

“I drive an old Holden Ute, it’s a great car”

Your life in Australia is oddly different than mine.

Yep, that’s exactly what I kept in there in my 2016, in a plastic bag so They didn’t get all rusty. You never know when you’re going to need some straps and you’re screwed if you don’t have them

One of my riding buddies drives a Ridgeline and hauls his dirt bike in the back of it regularly. Where we typically stage at is sort of known for having lots of hazards to tires. I asked him once if it bothered him knowing that if he got a flat with his bike in the back of his truck, he shrugged and said he'd either un-load the motorcycle, change the tire, re-load the MC and continue on with his day.

FWIW A Ridgeline was on my short list of trucks to buy before I bought my Taco. Had they had a higher tow rating and a real 4x4 offering I likely would have bought one.

Momma said I aints aloud in the internal webs cause of the spiders and gators.

Cool dude. I don’t care what other countries do, let alone call their personal vehicles. You’re so wise and cultured dad. One day I hope to grow up to be just like you. That way I can grow up to be that guy that chimes in with random quirky information that’s irrelevant to anything that the adults are speaking about. Also, are you ever coming home? How long does it take to get a new e-cig charger? We miss you.

We still good bro? I know I owe you good money after I lost that bet about you with the midgets, but no need to ruin an otherwise flourishing friendship.

To be fair, the radar cruise control is pretty awesome.

I had it on a Corolla rental. Meh? At the time, it didn't work under 25mph and the closest following distance was further than I preferred. Using it, I know that I would be getting cut off all day long in PNW traffic. I'm just not a fan.

Gimme full, certified autonomous or gimme full manual.

Yeah. I do not like the electronic 4wd that we have. :D

My wife recently had a new Forester loaner. She loved every bit of that automagic voodoo except she was only slightly annoyed by the stop start function. But, she was in love with 29mpg around town driving normally. :D

Actually most places outside of North America don’t call them midgets.

I assume because it wasn't particularly useful for storing anything of value for any length of time (at least not in my state). I put a hitch in mine once, it rattled like crazy, and rusted beyond repair in one winter. All sorts of water, road salt, and grime gets inside it. Now the only thing I use it for is crushed beer cans and other trash. CAVEAT: I read that people have managed to seal it and thus increase its usefulness.
