Thats cool that you have people near you who know what to do. I packed up my 3rd member and shipped it to AZ for the installation.

Living in CA does have some advantages.

@Empty_Lord, my 03 4R would have the 8.2 rear diff since it's open, right?

 

It'll be our master tech that works in our shop, he specializes in diffs and transmissions. He's got a pretty bad ass rig himself.

 

I was on and off about one, due to cost but today I said fuck it...

there are a couple place that sell milsurp. I believe they're $50-80 ea ATM

Lol! Yeah, I've done shit like that before. Think I did that with the leather for the 4R in fact.

I've seen old diesel milsurp jerry cans here in town for around that price range. Was tempted to get some. Flush them out with a little gas and they should be fine.

 

I would say a diesel bath would be sufficient enough. As long as there's not a bunch of junk in there and you let it evaporate dry it'll be fine
