Swap done! New bearings, new inner and outer hubs, spruced up and gusseted spindles, oem cv’s, Camburg uca’s. It’s at the alignment joint.0DD07E02-EE92-42D4-9EDA-8E39FC8EE5D3.jpg

Went to the junkyard and found 4 3rd gen 4runners. Grabbed some bump stops.

One has 4wd ADD. Is it worth it to grab the spindles and cv axles?

Disappointed that there isnt more parts that can be used between them and our 1st gen. I thought for sure I could use the wiper motor.

Definitely. You could sell those spindles and especially the CVs on here easily I bet if they're in good shape.

3rd gen 4runner CVs swap over to our trucks, but have a thinner shaft diameter.

It was actually pretty clean. I’ll go back tomorrow. What would be a normal asking price?

for used ones I see prices kind of all over the place, there should be a bunch of old listings for them in the buy/sell/trade section though that you can reference

You know it's really funny that you used the rebuilt hubs vs the brand new in box set

First post here. Been a Toyota fan for years though. Finally finished up a back seat extension for the doggo to make trips more comfortable for her. I think she approves!

It was a lot of CV's. It was also a lot of miles. Where I live I can go wheel after work and be back in time for dinner. I do that a lot. Last year I put about 5000 miles on my rig. Well over half of that was dirt and about 500 of it was hard crawling.

I got to the point that I could have a CV swapped and be rolling in 15 minutes or less. I'm glad I learned how to be efficient at it but I'm also glad I haven't had to do it again. lol

It takes me that long to jack my car up and get a wheel off.

You learn a lot the first 3 times. The next 3 you perfect the sequence. The final 5 I was just racing to beat my own record. lol

Have you seen my factory bottle jack with a 21mm nut welded on the crank handle? You place that under the LCA. Drop your 21mm, the same size as the lug nuts, impact in your 1/2 drive cordless. Raise the wheel via the LCA. Remove the lug nuts. Remove the wheel. Grab the 1/4" drive impact with a 14mm and remove the 4 LBJ bolts. Pop the axle dust shield off. Pull the axle retainer nut cotter pin. Put the 35mm on your 1/2 drive and back off the axle nut. Swing the spindle clear. Grab the 18" prybar and free the inner cv from the diff. Throw the new CV in. Reverse the process. Yeah, it's that quick. lol

Did the same thing. Welded a 1/2 in nut to my factory bottle jack so a 3/4 in deep socket will raise the truck and take the wheel off. Way safer than a hi lift and cordless tools make everything faster. Having everything easily accessible helps a lot too.
