Well, I am pretty mad at myself right now. Either myself or my coworker left my tailgate down and I bumped it into a stone wall while backing into a parking space.

It looks like the tailgate hinge is bent on the passenger side and maybe the bushing as well. Anyone know what part numbers I need to order to fix this?

I’d try some pry bar and vice grip treatment first before I started shelling out money.

Same. I'd put a ratchet strap in that little nook and try and pull it out. Something to re-bend it.

Can you pull the tailgate off ??? If you can I would do this first and get a good look at what is bent and what you can easily bend back and what you can't.....

Of course I'm back seat driving here ...

but I think the tailgate side may be easier bent back when off ?? As for the truck side ...

    A. Get a length of steel pipe just under size to fit in the hinge (to help it keep its shape) then use a pry bar between the hinge and the bed/floor ??

And B. ... how about reversing the hit ??? Get a wire rope/cable around the hinge (with the tailgate down) and tie the other end to a non movable object (No not the Wife) - a telephone pole?? Then with a little slack on the cable - bump it in gear for a second and let it "Tug" the hinge back ... Try gently then add force as needed. Just my thoughts JMO Good luck and let us know ...

i'm pretty bone tired from work but I'll give this a shot on friday when I have the day off. Probably why I bent it in the first place... anyway, i think i may try the pry bar method and go very slow. if not, it looks like i just need the L-shaped bracket and possibly the bushing.

I would be damn careful with a pry at against a polymer bed floor. There is some structure there at the rear, but the force will be transmitted to the poly floor. This may NOT end well at all
