As the title suggests, does not doing the 6 month service invalidate warranty?

Short answer is no. If you do any diy oil changes, just keep receipts. I bought OEM parts from the dealer for my oil changes.

That’s what I was thinking, no fluid changes required.

I probably won’t even make 5k by the 1 year service so I’m not worried about a Tyre change either...

I am under the impression that you have to follow the scheduled maintenance to keep the Warranty in effect.

Any reason you would choose to skip it? Are you just not at 5k miles yet?

They could only void your warranty if let’s say you never changed your oil and it sludges up and cause internal damage or failure. Or some other direct cause.

I remember a customer bring his F150 ecoboost in with almost 50k on the clock and never changed the oil. Entire motor was sludged up. Engine was shot. I think the quote for just a new engine alone was 16k not including labor. I don’t remember exactly what went wrong but I remember seeing it when it was torn down and it was bad. Still cheaper than some of the Diesel engine jobs I’ve seen in the shop.

Anyways not changing the oil because you don’t have the mileage isn’t going to hurt it. Although they recommended changing it every 6 months regardless. 5k they will rotate your tires as per of the service so you could just take it in for that

Maybe try another dealer a bit further out or something? I mean it's your truck, you can do whatever you please. Personally, I'm gonna be dragging my truck to the dealer for every dime of that Toyota Care. You paid for it when you bought the truck.

The little warranty and maintenance guide in the glovebox says its the Owners responsibility to follow the scheduled maintenance, just seems extremely foolish to take a chance.

True. But in OP’s case he will be fine if he decided not to change the oil for a little bit.

it’s probably recommended to change your oil in your lawn mower every 6months too but most people do it every year or even every couple.

Yep, 12 months for the taco oil change.
6 month service is a Tyre rotation and visual.

Yep, only one on this island.

Interesting fact of the day... Toyota’s sold in Hawaii are not part of Toyota USA, they are part of Toyota Pacific, a separate company...

And Toyota dealers in WA (for example) are not allowed to sell vehicles to customers that live in Hawaii.

The handful of times I've been out that way, someone is selling a ton of them. Tacomas are everywhere!

Some dealerships have lifetime warranties that require frequent paid maintenance service.

Example.....lifetime transmission warranty but you need to pay for flush twice a year.....by about year 5 the maintenance is approaching the cost of a new replacement transmission.

I buy oil and filters from the dealer and do the scheduled maintenance myself. Learned my lesson after taking my truck to the only two dealers in my area for the 6 month and 12 month ToyotaDontCare service. They both scratched my truck and over-tightened the lug nuts. I suspect they didn't actually change my oil at the 12 month service.

Yep, they are one of the top sales locations for Tacoma’s.

A couple of months ago (during lockdown) I decided for shits and giggles to count how many Tacos I could see on the 10 mile drive to Costco... nearly 100!
