Does not doing the 6 month service invalidate any warranty?

Have you had to have any warranty work done?

Edit: this is why I worry about taking it in. Lots of bad reviews with the local dealer too, unfortunately,

Fortunately not, I pray I never have to leave my truck in the hands of the kids they hire.

I got my truck from a different Island cause these guys messed up my order and I would have had to wait another eternity. But we got my wife’s Rav4 from them, good experience overall but the car wasn’t detailed well/right and there were dents on the roof near the roof rack where the detailer must have been pushing down too hard! Dummies

Recently had my 1st toyota care service done...only 3500 miles, but they rotated the tires and changed the oil anyways. I have a sticker left on the windshield marked for around 8500 for january. Visit for the 1/2 hr. service was pretty painless. Torrington toyota really did a nice neat job.

Thanks for reminding me about my 6 month Mx! I’m only going to have them check the rear diff fluid and add some if needed lol.
To make sure they do, I’ve got torque stripe to put on the fill plug so I can see if they took the plug out.

I just hit 5,000 miles on my truck and just had brand new tires put on. No need to have them rotated with just a couple hundred miles on them. Is there anything else that they do that's worth the trip to the dealer?

Its all my service appointment that was emailed to me said.....tire rotation and oil change. From the time i was there they were working other vehicles like on an assembly line. They wouldn't of had time to do anything else. My invoice said nothing about checking the fluids, and it appears they didn't.

Oil change if your vehicle has had a hard 5k due to towing for example, otherwise just a visual.

I think when i was asked how many miles i drive a year thats how they setup my oil change schedule.....didn't ask if i did any towing.

No. Don’t believe what the dealer says. I’m never bringing my truck in for a 3 hr tire rotation ever again.

Hmm...About 800 miles of that 5k was towing a side-by-side (about 2800lbs total weight). I might go ahead and get the oil changed.

Do it yourself, your truck will thank you. If you don’t have a jack and a some stands it’s a worthwhile investment for other work and mods. Harbor freight has some good ones very reasonably priced. Get those, a filter tool, and a drain pan and you can do your own. It will pay for itself in a bit, and it will really pay for itself if the grease monkey at the dealer would have screwed it up.

Only took 1 Toyotacare visit to show me the true colors. One wheel with loose lugs and one lug completely missing when I got home. The other lugs on the other wheels so tight I needed a cheater to get them loose. That was the first and last time. I can only think if the rest of those lugs spun loose on the way home.

6 month service is just a visual, oil is not due until 10k or 1 year. The only Physical thing they do on 6m/5k Is Tyre rotation.

About 20 years ago I completed a 3 year mechanical apprenticeship and spent 8 years in a workshop so I am a “qualified” mechanic. I trust myself more than the one dealer that is available to me.

You can do it yourself or take it to an independent garage if you dont like or trust that Dealer.

Thanks, I think I need to shoot them an email and get it from the horses mouth.

This is the first time in our lives that we've not had 15+ year old cars. When working on our cars it's always been about fixing them cause they're old. Now have a 2020 OR Taco & a 2020 Rav4 xse, it's so nice buying stuff for them and working on them for improvements sake, not preventative. Just finished doing shocks & driveshafts on our 2001 Cabrio which we were going to sell of but am now thinking of keeping as a cheap little runaround/beach car.

If you don't trust the dealer for basic maintenance, what makes you trust the person's that assembled the vehicle to begin with?
