i just got my led bar and mounted it, haven't done the wiring yet. which wiring harness did you use and where did you route your wire? will it fit the gap in a pillar or the windshield perimeter trim? please post some pictures of your install thanks in advance.

sorry can’t help with the harness. But I’m thinking of getting this for my trucks and was curious how you got it mounted?

I bought the low profile prinsu mount at cali raised and run the 12 gauge wire bu the gap on the windshield and rubber trim. I put black silicon glue the used for windshield put some in that gap tucked in the wire and painters taped it for one day.

When you say amber running lights, which ones are you referring to?

Like the ones in the picture. I believe the S8 comes with the amber lights in between the main lights. Most people tap into the DRLs for the on and off.

I built an auxiliary electrical system to control my accessories, now I don't have the baja designs S8, but if you can post a picture of the wire lead that comes out of it, I can definitely help you build a harness, and where to wire it in. I know how I would wire it with my setup. I'll get pictures up shortly.

So here's how I ran the wires. Even if you had to run 3 wires, if they're 12 gauge it might be tough, but anything smaller, no issue there.

As far as wiring the amber drive lights in, I have the Bussmann RTMR that I built from on of the threads on here. Using that, I can easily add the amber wire. But yes, if you're just running the one wire, you can tap that into your running lights.

Hope this helps! HARNESS 1.jpg HARNESS 2.jpg HARNESS 3.jpg

    On nice that looks solid.
I don’t have the light yet but was probably going to order soon, I just like to plan ahead lol. Here is the link to their harness https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/s8-ir-wire-harness-w-mode-2-bar-max-325-watts.asp (sold separately). It kind of looks like a jumbled mess in the picture but maybe someone who knows what they’re looking at will have a better idea. Seems like they have two wires and two switches. I wanted to run the running lights to something that would turn on with the car, like my raptor lights that turn on with the head lights, and run the main cable to a OEM style switch in the cab.

Yea that's not difficult at all. Plan it out. Building a full auxiliary system is a great idea. Even if you get the 5 relay Bussmann RTMR and only run one or two lights, is actually easy. You can at least add more in the future if that's the case. I tapped mine so when my lights come on, the system comes on. You can easily tap into a wire, such as running light, and then the ambers come on, while the switch is inside to control the light bar itself.

I'll see if I can find more info on the actual wiring of the SP8 light bar.

I ran my harness down the windshield molding. Wires wouldn't fit up near the top, so I used a blade and trimmed the molding a little bit and was able to squish it all in.

Looks like the S8 light bar is a 3 wire; power for the amber, power for the light itself, and ground. That is super easy to wire in. If you need more details on wiring it in, let me know.

Yea seems pretty simple. I’m just wondering how I can get the ambers running without the manual switch and without splicing. I ran an add a fuse for my raptors, hoping to do the same with these.

You definitely can. For the ambers, do exactly what you've done for the raptor lights. Cali Raised makes a nice switch panel for left of the steering wheel, that goes in that little cubby. Otherwise, you can get switches that fit the blank switch plugs left of the steering wheel. I'll post a picture of that when I can.

Just not sure what fuse I could use to achieve this effect of them turning on with my headlights. I’ll have to use the blank switches. I have a 2020 so no cubby on mine

Do you think the Cali raised bracket will work for the BD onX6+ light bar? It’s not as slim as the S8.
