I have often hit the emergency light button on my way to hitting the power button. Does this happened to anyone else or do am I just extra clumsy?

Like the hazards? I used to alot when I first had the truck. I've conditioned my self to stop hitting it though. Same w the 4 wheel drive switch. Humans are amazingly adaptable

I'm more of a "Let's put it in 4WD instead of adjusting the Temp" driver.

Try covering it with with a bright color. If you keep doing it it's becoming muscle memory. You need to unlearn the behavior. First place I ran boilers we had a guy that hit the emergency shut off almost every time he wanted to acknowledge an alarm. Finally had to put covers that needed to be removed before hitting the shutdown to stop hiim.

I saw a video years ago on someone doing it at I think 40-ish and nothing happens. Not sure if speeds vary with different outcomes.

Not once. I will confess I've bumped the 4x4 dial a time or two but it's been a long time. I would prefer a stronger detent, if I do it again I'll just change the springs.
