Easy choice #2. All of the prices you listed in #1 are very high. Sounds nice but the 20 got power drivers seat, better trans programming (unknown internal changes), adaptive cruise, bsm, and a few other nice creature comforts.

I would look further. If those were the only two trucks in the world to choose from then I also would go with the new one. However, for what you described as your use, seems like you could go with an SR or SR5 get new and save even more $ .

Sounds like they are bending you over with all those "extras" ide take the 2020. I wouldn't want someone's sloppy seconds, not for that price atleast.

option 2 and then mod it as your please. Plus you'll get the warranty from Toyota.

Also, i see you are in Utah - the heated seats are worth it trust me.

Agreed. That price seems high though. I paid like 36k for a 2018 OR. I am getting emails from the as recently as yesterday to trade to a 2020 OR at the same payments.

I'd have to say #1. How long do you plan to have it? Will resale really be that big of an issue? Plus, it has a lot of mods already installed while the new one doesn't and is more expensive. If you're worried about the transmission, just go have the reflash done. Plus if you wanted to upgrade anything in the future, you could always remove one of the current upgrades and sell it to cover part of the cost, assuming it's one of those that you wanted to upgrade. Not to mention the new one always loses value as soon as you sign on the dotted line. Yes, in Tacomas too.

This, provided of course that things like the Carfax check out and there aren't any hidden codes. But it's a Toyota so there shouldn't be any.

Number 2 for sure, in regards to number 1, I paid $36k for my fully loaded 2017 (JBL tech/prem OR 4wd) new, once the used price bubble bursts that truck will be worth $29k, even with the mods (that dont add value by the way) its not worth $37k. I'd also be very hesitant as 2016 including mine had some growing pains (CPS failures, timing cover leak, lower control arm whistle, 3rd brake light leak, transmission clunk from reverse to 1st, rear diff howl and super white paint has been showing to prove to fail early).

#1 that is over 10k in mods you dont need to get on the new rig, 50k miles is nothing.. I bought my TRD OR used with 20k miles on it, certified pre-owned. now I have bolted over $10k in mods to it.. (no tire set is $1800 btw, more like $1200-1400), floor mats and that other stuff are ancilliary... you are buying it for the suspension, tires/wheels, and body protection (sliders).. I definitly would upgrade the skidplates though.. RCI, or CBI... good luck.... I would Blue book it, and base off the price of the add-ons minus 1/3 of their price. add the two together and get as close to that number, or lower as you can. he cannot expect you to pay for mods he has done, that you may not like or want on your DD... nor pay for his install costs..

Solid advice folks (even from the grumpy old dude who chided me for seeking opinions). Thank you. Buying new. I'll add a Diamondback HD for work. Lightweight full skid plates and sliders later on. That oughta empty the wallet for a while.

Nice, you'll be happier this way, rather than paying top dollar for someone else's mystery machine.
