I’m using a Husky box and some HD rails to anchor the ratchet strap.

Same. I’m not a big fan of proper “truck toolbox”.

Instead of picking up ADD spindles and CVs, grabbed these seats out of a different 4Runner. Should clean up decent enough. Have them out in the sun drying.

I built a similar mounted tire carrier years ago. Worked great till I went to pull and reinstall. I only mounted the feet to the bed and always had trouble realigning it.
No pictures of the feet but got the initial idea from ford raptors as this was a popular afternarket spare tire carrier when they first came out

$20 at Home Depot. I went in with the intention of buying a husky tool box but after measuring bed space my spare would be super close so I opted for this. Fits my air compressor, tool set, breaker bar, torque wrench, impact, and others offs and ends perfectly !

Where were the bolts mounted? I haven’t wheeled my truck but I’ve taken the bed on and off a dozen times and the holes always line up with the factory supports. If worst comes to worst I’ll hole saw through the little bed cross members and weld some 1/2” - 1” ID OD sleeve to the bottom of the cross member.

Imagine finding a Tacoma or 3rd Gen 4runner at a JY. Last time I got a notification about one at Pull N Pay there was only a bed and shell left by the time I got there. And I live 20 minutes away.

You're in Colorado right? Yota Jim's has a stock pile of them already pulled. I'd imagine Yota yard is similar maybe even cheaper. Then there's always car-part.com, not sure what shipping would be like if it's not close.

I’m talking about my spare tire mount. I made that removable with feet bolted to the bed. I misread your original post and didn’t see your replacing the existing bed mounting points haha. Thought you where making a removable spare tire/bed cage like in your original picture

What ever Engineer suddenly went, Oh Shit we didn't put a clock on the dash, and just threw one one there, should have his ass kicked. Stupidest location for a clock that I've ever seen on any vehicle that I can remember.

Back in the 90s when these were designed, nobody cared about the time.

    EDIT:
Except my english teacher, I was 1 step out of the door when you gave me that tardy detention!

Dam, do you cook and eat your food off that engine. Cleanest pics I've ever seen of one. How log did that take, and did you paint the intake manifold.

Got it - the cage bolts through my spacers that sleeve down to the frame mounts. I figured based on how 6 holes lining up is a pain I would make the bolts hold the cage to the spacers so I can move everything to make the holes line up. I can remove the bed cage that way too and bolt the bed down with the spacers by themselves. I figured I’d probably still get asked to help people move in the future haha
