Been providing this service for a number of weeks in the El Paso and surrounding area.

Partner will be in Phoenix next week and then in Denver for a few months starting in mid September for anyone out there.

Yeah. The newest one right? I don't really think there's any physical way to tell (Gear lock etc). Software said, there's no way to tell.

Mine does as well. Technically I suppose, the truck is moving fast enough to make the upshift(s). I feel like it still wants to make it up to 4th gear as fast as possible and this just may be something to do with the 3.5l engine and moderate acceleration. If I'm accelerating hard it keeps the gear longer as one would expect. I'm not an expert and maybe it's just conjecture... maybe I'll just go back to being a spectator.

    Peace.
Edit. OVTune 2.0 non thx stock tire size reg fuel.

It's fine for normal driving, but if you pull out in front of someone on a corner and aren't squealing the tires, it'll upshift, then you creep and creep and creep the pedal forward until it launches to first :annoyed: So annoying

Yes mine does this as well. I’m finding similar behavior in other gears as well depending on driving conditions. That said seemed like every other shift was like this stock, maybe it will do this once a day or so now on 2.0, so there has been massive improvement. This truck has always been scared of mid range rpms at moderate throttle. Snails pace or rocket ship it does fine.

Agreed. Hopefully when the performance tune comes out next year it'll help alleviate that.

Can’t imagine there’s a ton of incentive to finish a product that they already deemed obsolete.

So, I borrowed a buddies computer and cable with all the software on it. Bought the credits to unlock/flash my ECU. Few questions from here:

    1. looks like I open “Toyota flash manager”, choose “tuning” from the top, then “P5flash utility” and hit “identify” with the cable plugged in and my truck turned on (not running)
      1. Copy that info and send to OVTune
After that, I guess they send me my stock file for my records?
    1. Then I use the same flash manager software and same utility option but choose flash this time and choose the file that matches my ECU ID and vehicle description. The one I downloaded from their blog as a zip file.
    Does that sound about right?

One other thing: I’m currently running 5.29’s and 33’s, so I planned on choosing that file with 87 octane (regular) and returning all of my buddies stuff. But I’m reading in this thread that people are using tunes For configurations way above their setup (35” tune and running stock tires in reality).
    • Is this common and just something you have to play with until you find the tune you like?
    • If so, how long does the truck take to “change” to feel the difference before swapping to another tune?
Thanks for any help on this. I’m pretty computer literate but have never done any kind of tune before. Main goal is better shifting characteristics. Anything else is a bonus.

My stock tune is 04B02. No need to update to 04B04 right? I finally got the VR tuner to work. Techstream is a whole new mountain for me I'd rather not climb.

I think you’ll find that the general recommendation is to update to the latest ECU possible before flashing. It’s not required if there’s a flash for your current ecu, but Mat says there can be benefits beyond what his tune/flash updates.

Even if not, I think I was able to eliminate this behavior on the stock map just by raising shift points in vF tuner, eliminating the trucks ability to run below 1,500 rpm. But the torque curve in 2.0 base is so much better I’m willing to live with a funky shift here or there to use it.

I might take you up on that if I can’t find someone in the RVA area who’s willing to do the same.

We haven't posted any timeline on the performance oriented version of 2.0 for AT, but we actually met quite a few of our timelines for all MT stuff for the 3rd Gen.
We met our timeline for almost everything vF Tuner related.
AT 3rd gen work, and a few tundra things are the only things we have missed deadlines on.
