well it's getting late for the old man here. Time to take a nap. I'll see who the late owls are after midnight if I'm lucky enough to sleep that long.

Random- yesterday’s scale ticket. The goal is to get the drive axle weight and the trailer axle weight distributed evenly by sliding the trailer axles forward or backward. I have no way of knowing how much weight is in this trailer because it’s full of unissued bundles of newsprint just thrown in there off of a conveyor. I get it weighed right before I deliver it about 90 miles away. This is my best to date, 60 pounds difference. Everyone thinks that I reweigh until I get it right but all I do is look at the tires on the trailer axles and look at the tires on the drive axles of the tractor. Which ever one looks flatter has more weight. I slide until they look even and it works for me. It rolls like a skateboard when everything is balanced.

Impressive. We've been curious how much we've loaded into our poor little trailer these last few trips but never brave enough to stop. Ignorance is bliss.

Livin on the edge. The only reason that I have to weigh these loads is because the buyer pays by weight. The bill of lading has zero pounds for weight listed. DOT requires a weight listed on the bill or you better have a certified scale ticket but there is nowhere near there that has a scale so I make the zero into 20,645. When I get it weighed, I white out the 2 645 and get 2 copies of the bill made at the truck stop and everyone lives happily ever after.
