Absolutely worth it! The shifting is light years better and I haven't even thought about the extra crispy taco (ECT) button in a long time.

Most are happy with it and I've been here from the beginning and can tell you that once the ( new ness ) wears off you will still be satisfied as it's a solid upgrade based on facts but still is kind of truck to truck as they all behave a little differently from the factory...
I'm definitely not defending a purchase as I'm a results oriented person, it works or it doesn't and this works and very well..
I'm still on 1.03 but just know 1.05 will be light years ahead of where I'm at now.

I think ovtune is worth watching. I am happy with my truck as is.With the simulated Atkinson cycle, and transmission learning though I think they will have something,I will read here and watch the development

I have the tune and am with this guy. Get the TSB and then wait for objectionable 1.05 reviews if/when it's released.

Thanks y’all! I think I’m gonna try the TSB and see where I’m at after it. I’m not unhappy with my truck as is but more power, more torque?? Better shifting... gets my attention

The tune with the TSB, which is 1.04r, to me, is absolutely no better than the TSB when it comes to shifting. It does add more power, but I don’t notice it much. It’s proven on the dyno to add torque/hp, 30ish or so I think.

I originally bought it before the TSB corrections based on keywords I read on that monster thread, words like “buttery” and “seamless” when describing shifting, I found that to be completely false in my opinion. Buttery is subjective though, I think those guys saying buttery came from logging trucks or something.

I’m hoping for a great 1.05 though, I say wait.

Edit: and by the way, you can’t get 1.04r(the latest version) without getting the TSB first anyway. 1.05 will include the benefits when it comes out.

Yeah I’m wondering if 1.04R overwrites some of the benefits of the TSB.

Drive ability to me is more important than power increase. Yes the tune adds a bit of power but it’s hard to tell.

I think pre TSB the tune bettered daily driving but post TSB that’s a hard line to draw. I know most love the tune but I agree I wonder what they’re coming from to compare to.

Is their a way to check and see what “TSB” your truck is currently running?

If you’re a 17 you’ll not have it unless you asked for it from the dealer.

Tsb 62 or 58 I believe. There are threads with more detail.

I've had the tune since the beginning and all of the iterations have been superior to the stock truck. After about four years I would not drive my truck stock knowing what the tune does for the vehicle. I have better shifting, higher gas mileage and +40 horsepower. It may not be worth it for some but for me it's been worth every penny and a pure joy to drive with.

    this and that...
were about to find out shortly. i bought ovt the other day, just waiting for it to arrive now. initially, my BIGGEST gripe with this truck was the absolutely horrendous throttle gating down low. i picked up an sprint booster for a steal of a deal and that fixed the issue i had with this truck. my truck is fun to drive now, and really have no regrets buying sb. i did buy ovt basically for shits and giggles, because taco world seems to think so highly of it. i want to see what its all about; i want to feel what its all about. i hope im not let down cause 800 is a lot to spend for hearsay. what i want from this unit that would make it worth is a linear poweband, meaning no sudden vvti changeover. im running an intake and an exhaust, and that shit just roars at 3.5k, and im not even fully gunning it lol. pretty much anytime it hits 3.5k. the truck could be relatively quiet, then changeover and RAWR. LOL. if i could get one consistent sound based on how much throttle i give and not based solely on vvti then thats worth it to me. dont even know if that makes sense in words (it makes sense in my head damnit!), but all my questions should be answered as soon as i have product in hand.

I am just running OV Tune stocked. I do not have any cold air intake or any after market exhaust on my truck so I could not answer that for you buddy. But I do hope it works out for you and that money is not a waste.

@Toyoda Tacoma: yeah there just an overwhelming array of positive feedback so it is what it is. in the very least i like to support businesses that support the platform that im playing with. so in that sense i dont really mind coming up. my own personal huntch though. i think people get all giddy when they realize ovt addresses the issue with throttle sensitivity, thus in turn giving the truck a whole new demeanor on the street. THAT IN AND OF ITSELF, is a night and day difference. all the comments i read on the truck feeling different, all the yt clips i see of initial reactions and first drives when they first press that gas and being just in awe. all that makes me think its the throttle modulation, and for me, sb did that for me. so well see. im not downplaying it by no means, the ovt boys spend night and day honing their craft and this is an absolutely good thing. im stoked to get mine.
