    I have the same welder,

it will run just fine, that’s exactly what I did. I ran a 20amp dedicated line for my welder and grinders

Anyone using straight co2 as a shielding gas? I’ve been watching some videos of people running it because it’s cheap and readily available. I don’t know enough to argue it better than a dual blend or even tri gas but overall I could see where it could be useful to keep around. And also since I just happen to have a 20# tank in my truck.....

I'm thinking there will be a push towards using CO2 more by hobbyist welders. Welding gasses are getting more and more expensive.

I've got a can of Tri-mix that I know I will not be replacing. The helium in that blend has made it beyond affordable.

Sweet looking welds! I've already noticed in the EXTREMELY short time I've been welding that they look better when I clean off the mill scale.

Is it me or did the pieces curl up a little during welding? Can't tell from the first picture if they were already like that. I ask because I've noticed that happening on the practice pieces I've been doing and it's started to dawn on me one of the reasons for spot welds and now that is starting to become part of my thought process when prepping.

Yep. metal deformation is a big issue. Need to be aware how things will warp and plan your welds to minimize the issue.

They’re not curled, just resting on an uneven surface. With these, the backside gets welded as well and ground smooth. I haven’t ground them smooth yet.

But yes that is something to be aware of is heat makes metal move, so over time you’ll learn cause and effect and how to mitigate that.

Thought you all might get a kick out of this. Got my oldest son (21 years old) on the welder for the first time, below are his first welds. He had a perma-grin on his face for quite some time! I think it's safe to say the apple didn't fall far from the tree with respect to what captures our interest.

The weld on the right was his first one. At the time, I didn't realize it, but he had the torch too close to the metal and was melting the tip and partially blocking the wire from coming out. The second weld is represented by the melted tip in the middle since no wire came out at all. After I figured out what happened, got it set back up and the weld on the left was the result. I have to say I was pretty proud, considering it was the blind leading the blind!

I need to put the hood back on soon. I'm getting rusty. Not sure if posted this one here or on IG.

I'm more of a straight line MIG welder. Proper gap and you can get the job done and it looks great. I do like the look of "stacked dimes", but I don't really do it too often.

Are you gonna toss up some pics of your welds? We are a pretty decent bunch to get criticism from.

Hey guys. Going to pick up a model 32 bender soon. I'm going to get 2 different dies. Would you recommend going with 1.5" and 1.75" or 1.5" and 2". Your input is appreciated!

    Thanks

1.5 and 1.75 would probably be the most used

Came across these pics of my projects for the welding night classes.
First is a taller hoop for the eBay bumper. I didn't like the look of the stubby hoop, and wanted a bolt on.
Second was my AC line weld. That broke because the early eBay bumper didn't have a notch for it and I didn't notice that the line touched on the bumper.
