Just got rid of pmi so now it is the mortgage lol. And the 12 weeks is that new mass insurance thing I pay into. I'll still get my 4 weeks of vacation/sick

I put the breakaway actuator on the same loop that I attach my chains. I know where you are going with this, but the way I see it, if my chains break the hitch off the vehicle or break the loops to the hitch, it's already enough of a shit show that it's not going to matter much. Think of what would have to happen to break the chains or the hitch.

Have you ever had your trailer land on the chains? It's quite an event.

My mortgage is pretty much dead-on at $1400 if I add in taxes and insurance (I don't have escrow and pay those separately, so I typically don't think to add them in), and that's with a 15 year! I'd be very broke if I had to come up with an additional $1400/month for daycare. Public school district salaries aren't exactly impressive.

Hm. Don't know about that - I'm in RI, from NH/ME. So. Never dealt with MA. We have "unlimited" sick time, 2 weeks vacation. The 4 weeks paternity is separate.

Was passenger when this happened once. Driver knew what they were doing, so nothing bad happened, but when you hear people say "I didn't notice it wasn't on the ball", they're BSing. Good lord, do you notice.

PITI + PMI is right at 1600/30 year. PMI is 110/mo so hoping to reappraise to get that down, house has gone up so I should be at or beyond the 80/20 barrier now.

A friend and I went to pickup his aunt's car that broke down in PA a few years ago. He's got a 19 ft car hauler, I think it weighs in around 3000 lbs. We apparently did not get it locked onto the ball, and an hour into the trip we hit a bump on an off ramp. It bounced off the hitch, fell onto the chains, brakes locked up. It definitely was an event.

It was not fun picking the tongue of that up and getting it back onto the hitch.

I found a bank that had no PMI. It's a marginally higher interest rate, but still way less than paying PMI until I hit 80%.

Honestly, I never realized this was a debate but I've been hearing not to attach it to the same place the ball mount attaches do. In my mind, I agree with you, I keep my breakaway cable shorter than the chains so, even if the chains break the loop, it's still going to trip the trailer brakes. The only way it wouldn't is if there was a catastrophic failure in which the whole receiver detached from the truck in which case, you have some very major issues.

I have had the experience of towing a trailer by the chains. Wasn't fun but everything stayed in line and the chains did their job. I did learn that I had too much slack in the breakaway cable so I had to use the brake controller to hold the trailer back. I toasted the trailer's tongue jack but otherwise, no damage to the truck or the trailer.

    So I did a thing...
    513A51F9-86CD-4544-B03F-9D86030210A4.jpg

Then I had a conversation with a customer who wanted to get his thing out of his driveway after 5 years of sitting, so I did another thing...
    DA145B6D-DA55-4BD2-A259-C8A098C30B6D.jpg

But the F2shitty had other things in mind as we pulled up to do that thing, it did a thing first...
    85FCD22F-9468-48C9-81E1-7310F404136E.jpg

So then I had to do an emergency thing to limp us home...

And once we got home, I did some sanitizing, vacuuming, waterless washing, and a new battery... And much to my amazement, my new-to-me-for-free thing did a vroom vroom thing! :woot:

    Morning all! Happy Friday

Sorry, I guess I misread your post. Sounded like you thought they were throwing the sand into the mold. As for the moisture, unless you're mounting the tire outdoors in a rainstorm there's not enough humidity in the air to freeze solidly enough to lock the beads into one big lump during the winter, especially since it's under pressure. As you increase atmospheric pressure, the freezing point of water drops.

Call it snake oil if you want, but the basic function is the same as a lead wheel weight.

I put polished competition grade airsoft pellets in my tires 35" and up. That shit works great! About a pint glass full per tire. :drunk:

Hot damn! I bet the Goldwing gets more miles than the Harley! Nice bikes, congrats.

Thankfully, you're pre-emissions otherwise the truck could have been getting a tow home. While you're in there... S&B tank?
Except for the half gallon of soapy water some places use to set the bead

Lol, right, except for that. Of course, the bead lube helps to lower the freezing point too, so...

Not too sure how the Goldwing does thus far. It sat for 5 years, so I definitely need new tires and an oil change on it. I rode it down the street and back, before realizing that the valve stem for the front tire was so dry rotted that it had already broken off :der:  No wonder why it was so squirrely!

The Iron gives me just over 100 miles to the tank, but only 2.something gallons to fill it up. Its a Sportster, they spend their entire life with the fuel light on...

I've never heard of the S&B, but my plastic fuel tank works just fine. It hasn't rusted out yet! And thank god the fittings didn't snap off when it dropped down!

Also, :brianr: to emissions! I just slapped a Hydra chip in that bitch and roll coal until my transmission starts slipping and shuddering... and I get worried about the health and condition of my transmission... so I drive it like an old man...

I've always been a Jap fiend, but with TFCC in both wrists, I couldn't do the lean-over approach.

I wish I still had Pugga's Katana 750 though... darn..

The S&B or Titan tanks are oversized tanks for diesel trucks. I can get a 60 gallon version for mine if I were so inclined. It'd be cool, but they're also like $1,200 so there's that...

My comment about the Goldwing was more a jab at the Sportster implying the Goldwing will be physically running on more occasions than the Harley :boink:

Besides a slipping tranny, how's the old oil burner doing? Is it going to the scrap heap when the tranny gives up the ghost or is the rest of it doing well enough to put a new one in and keep running it?

I hear that! Those yard bars were the best thing I did to that bike! I'm still rocking Tony's old DR350 but wouldn't mind picking something up with longer legs for the highway. The DR isn't happy holding speeds over 60 for extended periods of time. It's got a good low end that I don't want to ruin by regearing either so, naturally, the solution is another bike :D

Christ, filling this thing with 35 gallons hurts enough, I don’t want to double the capacity :angrygirl:

The Goldwing has 67k on it and literally started right up after sitting 5 years. I’m IMPRESSED!!! I’m also very thankful that those rat bastard mice didn’t chew the harnesses. I was fully prepared to pull all the plastics off and play continuity doctor.. instead I put about an hour of work in and got a $6,500 bike with a signed title and everything for a $24.95 uhaul rental.

As far as these sportsters go, the newer EFI bikes have been super reliable. The worst repair I’ve seen so far has been a coolant temp sensor failure on my buddy’s streetglide.

It’s funny you should ask about the old truck, Mike... that old 7.3 is running like a top. I took the drop-in liner out that the previous owner put in, and found the bed rot was worse than I thought. I ended up picking up a 10’x5’x1/8” sheet of diamond plate steel. I’ll be cutting the floor out and replacing it with new steel, and replacing the bed supports while I’m at it, then Raptor lining the inside and underside to protect it for many years.
    064D9393-8350-48DE-B4DE-F3927190774C.jpg
    B79E866F-9C94-4244-8F20-E659DAC05212.jpg

I’ll be pulling the bed off this Saturday while the GF heads down south to get her hur did with her momma.

When the trans goes, I already have my eye on a stage 3 billet trans that a guy builds up my way. He wants $1,900 and your core, so it ain’t bad!

I also need to replace my up pipes, install my 5” exhaust, and figure out an annoying water leak on the passenger side.

Honestly, I took those bars off in pretty short order, and they’re now being recycled onto my GF’s 1986 Honda Rebel 250. I put the clip-ons back on the katana fairly quickly. It hurt my wrists a LOT and it was super uncomfortable to me commuting an hour and a half each way. :anonymous:
