This is a third gen top on my 2nd gen. The center definitely dips down below the cab line. I personally like the fit with this more than the older style 2nd gen tops that stuck up about 3-4" above the cab. It's all personal preference though. Hope this helps some

I was thinking of starting this also but from the other direction. I started upgrading the stereo with the h/u and now I’m moving to the front door speakers and am debating adding sound deadening as I move through the truck but wondering if it will really makes that much difference. I’ve done a few audio systems but never messed with the deadening material.

That looks good! I could see my brake light, I possibly had it pulled down way too tight in the front.

If you zoom in on the 2nd pic you can see it’s below the cab line more than yours E58C3CF7-A464-4E20-BCFE-420E871FF4CE.jpg

I’ll let you know when I get the cab back together and drive her around. But if it’s done right, I suspect it helps. I’ll post up what I do to the doors next week. I took baseline dB readings last week (Driving 78mph on the freeway), I will take them again with the floor and back wall done, and again with doors done.

if you slap on some dynamat extreme or generic equivalents and call it, it likely won’t do much. People go crazy with that stuff and it’s not actually a sound deadener, rather it’s a vibration dampener. Which helps on flimsy door panels, but doesn’t block a ton of sound.

From what I gather you need the vibration dampener, closed cell foam, and butyl rubber to pull it all together. I didn’t want to half ass it. It’s a hassle to tear apart the interior. Do it once and do it right.

Thanks man! Yeah that could be what it is. Yours does look a good bit lower than mine up front. I think there is a little adjustability with the straps. Maybe try loosening the front a little and tightening down the back straps

I definitely agree with that. For now I think I’ll commit to the doors since they are coming apart for the speakers anyway and if the results are good then I’ll put the rest of the cab on the old to do list. Thanks man.

You and I are on the same paths. I initially upgraded my stereo (stock HU, but aftermarket amps powering a sub and door speakers/tweeters). I then sound deadened my front doors, then my suicide doors. Now I just have to find the time to do the floors and rear wall. Don't know if i'd ever do the roof but who knows. Just doing the doors made a pretty significant difference driving around town. Still get a lot of wind noise at freeway speeds. Overall, just the doors is still worth it for sure. I can imagine doing everything else will only help.
