If I remember correctly my first sportbike (gsxr600) had to have the clutch pulled in before it would start

I would hate that. I almost always start my bike up and let her run while I put my helmet and gloves on. That’s just another thing to break and have to fix. I don’t have to pull the clutch in to start mine either although I usually do out of habit from doing it with my dirt bike

The BMW has it, and I really don't mind it. I always park it in neutral, so I can start it on the sidestand just fine without pulling in the clutch. I have heard of people breaking the sidestand switch while riding off road, but it's an easy trailside fix, cut and twist two wires together to bypass it.

The Honda definitely doesn't have a sidestand interlock and I've tried to ride off with the kickstand down at least five times. That's a fun clunk when you go to turn left and hit it....

Yup I had an '01 600, that was the first year for fuel injection and also had a manual fast idle switch for cold starts.

    :duh:

you do all that with the bike idling in neutral.... not with the bike in gear though...

I am not for sure certain but pretty sure, that i can turn by bike on with just the push button as long as it is in neutral, will double check this later

What Harley riders don’t understand is you pull in the clutch just in case your gear indicator is off or the trans slips into gear ;)

Ahh you guys are talking about starting in gear... ya I can start it up while in gear without the clutch lol. But I almost never park in 1st so I never have that issue. Only time I have I clutched in to start, and then forgot I was in gear and dropped the clutch and the bike jumped a bit and then stalled

When I park at home in my garage I never check. But when I’m out and park somewhere I usually check to make sure I’m in neutral before starting so I don’t make myself look like an idiot
