Thanks, this is great! Those WAGOs are smaller than I imagined, I've got a variety pack on the way.

Would you mind looking over my diagram?

And for S's & G's here is a mockup of my plans (Ignore the ferrite mess, the previous owner did that. The radio is at the shop right now to replace the power cable)

    I hate you all!

Everytime I log into TW, my wallet flies open.

My next project will be A Canned Ham, right after an end pole, which is after upgrading to General all while trying to figure out a Ham Shack.

    Bastards!

    Keep the projects coming.

Your diagram looks good. I did anderson poles between the radio and everything else so I could use other power sources if I wanted. Right now it's sitting on my desk with the radio connected to the desktop power supply. Also, if I needed to use a 12v plug and power in the car or RV I had the option.

I use a Battery Tender brand charger for the battery. I love them for my motorcycles, so figured they would be good for this. They have smart charging, so they can be plugged in and left for years without damaging the battery. One of my two power poles are directly connected to the battery for charging and one is switched. This was just a personal choice, you could run another set off the battery for charging. The Battery Tender comes with SAE connectors, which are nice too (Although I changed them to anderson poles).

Going to be ham-sexy when you are done.

If I get a chance I will draw up my diagram to show all I am talking about, not sure if it will confuse more or help.

Rotating beacon for an airport. I fly and mechanic for work and a few nights a week I spend away from home running UPS next day air. Our company uses a house on the airport property so I am set up in the back yard right now.

Depends on the terrain. I can hit repeaters an absurd distance away out in the unobstructed west desert, but hitting the repeater 8 miles up a narrow canyon from my house can be a stretch.

That's what had me surprised the terrain out here is fairly heavily wooded, there are some "mountains" in between, I was not up on a peak, and I had to hold the HT w/signal stuff antenna at the correct odd angle to even pick up the repeater. I'll be back out there throughout the summer/fall so I can try again with TX bumped up.

I just snagged a Ftm-400xdr off QRZ but will keep playing with the HT.

Rtsystems software? Can you elaborate? Will it work for other radios as well?

    This is helpful, thanks.

I'm going a similar route. A constant APP for charging the battery and then a switched APP, but I'm not sure how that would work, if say I wanted to run the radio off a dedicated 12v power supply in my "shack". I think my current method would still work, but I'd like some confirmation there.

I'm new to the ham world and have a slight issue with my mobile set up in the truck. When receiving if I press on the brakes I get added noise coming through. I'm assuming there is some interference between the brake system and antenna. Has anyone dealt with this or have some insight on where to start?
I'm running a Kenwood TM-D710G mounted under the passenger seat, power is running from an aux fuse panel next to the battery, and the antenna is routed through the passenger side firewall and crosses over to a ditch light bracket on the driver side.

Sounds like the antenna line is running right over the master cylinder for the brake. I would assume there is some electrical interference from the ABS/brake controller there. If you can reroute the antenna line away from that I'd think you'd be good.

If you wanted, you could probably switch to the passenger side ditch light bracket [if you have space over there] and be happier, but I assume there was some reason you ran to the drivers side.

That's what I figured. Passenger side bracket has the CB antenna mounted. How far away does it need to routed, or is there some kind of "shielding" that I could use on the cable?

You could try ferrite chokes at either of end of pretty much all you cabling? It's probably overkill, but that's what I did and it got rid of interference from my ditch lights.

FYI, we have very similar setups, but I've got the TM-V71. CB on passenger, ham on driver. I never use the CB anymore

Do you have any LED lights? Their drivers are sometimes dirty splatter machines.

I think the way you have it planned to wire is going to work. Thats also the great thing about the WAGOs, very easy to change something around without rewiring the whole thing. I think you are to the point you need every in hand and just do it. If it doesn't work right, the way you want it to, change it.

Camping last weekend I had to stand on my head to reach the repeater back home, then my buddy turned on his camp lights(6 led pods) and instant static!
