We can get you set up with the mirror - email me at info@bobsmirrors.com

But...you cannot, and I must strongly stress >cannot< use the factory temp sensor in any way. Doing so will cause two things to happen...the mirror will send 5 volts into your truck's computer and the computer will send a similar voltage into the mirror. 5 volts may not harm a fly, but it will make your local Toyota dealer happy as this will quickly fry the computer and they'll be charging well north of a grand to fix it and it will also destroy the temperature section of the mirror if not the whole mirror, which means you'd have to buy a replacement mirror too. The kits we sell come with their own sensor as these mirrors require a dedicated temperature sensor, so other than plugging into the white 14 pin connector tucked away above your truck's overhead console, there is no other wiring that ties into anything in the truck...the temp sensor is completely separate from any of the truck's wiring

I put the Homelink mirror with temperature and compass in my 2014 Sport last October. While I have done very few mods, the mirror is easily
    my favorite mod.

    Thanks Bob!

Does your truck currently have the factory auto dim compass Homelink mirror? If so, the 14 pin / 3 wire plug is connected to the mirror under a plastic cover attached to the mirror bracket.

As for the compass, it's self-contained within the mirror, so nothing extra needs to be done to make the compass work, it'll operate whenever the ignition is on.

I have an auto dim with the backup camera screen in the left side, no homelink.

I used to have the compass and temperature in my overhead console, but i wanted to move it to the mirror, and move the backup camera to the head unit.

Ok...it's possible to put one of the compass temp mirrors in your truck, but because your mirror is what supplies 6 volt (yes...6 volt!) power to your truck's OEM backup camera, if you replace the mirror, there goes the power for the backup camera. But...we've been down this road with a few Tacoma owners who wanted to do the exact same thing, so we can make you up a custom harness that will have provisions in place to power the backup camera, and also include an RCA cable with reverse trigger wire long enough to reach your head unit (assuming you're going with an aftermarket unit?). So it would still have the same Gentex compass temp mirror & dedicated temp sensor & everything else like our regular kit, with the additional mods needed to accomplish what you would like for it to do. And in case you're wondering...you can't use the temp sensor signal from your overhead console with these mirrors...the signal in your console is a digital signal running on 1 wire; the mirror requires a dedicated analog two wire sensor, so you'll still be needing to install the sensor, same as what gets done in the 2014-2015 trucks. Send me an email at info@bobsmirrors.com and I'll get back to you tomorrow with more details & pricing on the custom kit.

I'm looking for this same mirror. I have a 2012 base model, so my truck didn't come with anything.

Just paid for the mirror. Cant wait for it to ship :)

Anyone have a comparison picture between the regular stock no frills mirror and the homelink?

I imagine the upgraded one is bigger but how much? Just curious

Here are some. On the after picture of it installed i used a mirror risor with an attachment to add a phone mount. The new mirror does not give you the rise and phone mount like I have pictured.

Is there another thread for mirrors you sell for 08s? Or is it not possible?

Just wanted to say the Homelink 4 blue compass (no temp) mirror I ordered from Bob back in January of 2019 for my 2014 has been hands down the best mod I have ever done to this truck. Too easy to deal with him and installation couldn’t have been more straight forward. If you are even slightly considering getting one....do it.

Got my Gentex 453 from Bob in less than 5 days despite the hectic mailing season. It came with everything you need except for tapes and elbow grease. The instruction was very helpful and understandable (in correct English). The instruction was elaborate and you can modify it as you see fit to suit your comfort level. I was able to install it in less than 1.5 hours. This was my first mod project so it may faster install for the seasoned installer. The quality of the product is superb. It looks like brand new! Everything works: the Homelink, temp., autodim and compass. There are many lower priced aftermarket mirror out there. I chose Bob's Mirror because of the many positive feedback from TW. I'm glad I chose Bob's Mirror.

    @RJP869

Just a quick question since you run in these circles. I have considered swapping out my mirror on my 2014 Offroad in order to be able to have an outside temp gauge in the truck but it is a lot of work and expense for just the ability to tell the outside temp. Do you have any ideas of any type of an aftermarket temp gauge that actually looks halfway decent? Is it possible to buy an old mirror that has the temp gauge built in that might not be in good enough condition to sell as a mirror but one I might be able to explore if I can cannibalize the temp part of it to see if I could make something that would display just the temp in an aesthetically pleasing set up? I would be willing to buy the mirror for parts if you had something like that hanging around. Thanks in advance for any help or guidance you can offer.

Well...in terms of a standalone temp gauge...I have been looking for something decent (for over 5 years, lol!) for my snowmobile. I actually went so far as to cannibalize a crappy mirror to see if it is possible. Though it might be, I can tell you that I've given up on the project...here are my reasons: you would have to install the mirror's circuit board some place where it's not too shielded by the vehicle's sheetmetal (this would affect the compass sensor), figure out how to bypass the ambient light sensor (otherwise if you mount the circuit board in a dark location, the display will always be very dim), with the internal circuit board being roughly 3" x 10", finding a space to hide it is going to be a challenge...then for the display, the circuit board for the display is roughly 3"x3", even though the LCD display panel is only around 1"x1.5". So wherever you'd mount this would also need to be large enough to accommodate the circuit board. Though I've dealt with these things for over 20 years and have quite a bit of experience in electronics, I soon realized that this project was not worth the time & effort.
