    Too bad it's illegal to set up a shotgun to go off when the tailgate is opened. You might damage the tailgate, but it would be worth taking out a thieving scum.

    Got mine the other day. Put a coat of primer on it and then the temp dropped below 40. Waiting for warmer weather to paint it and mount it.

    What's the point of having the bracket?
    I would replace the counter-sink/Torx with a stock replacement, given the difficulty of removal.

    The point is to keep your tailgate.
    Without it, your tailgate will come off in 3 seconds.
    With it, and the T45 tamper proof screw, by the time they figure it out, they would have just stole your neighbors.
    Not sure what you mean by "stock replacement" ? You can use your OEM screw that came with the truck if you choose to do so, with or without the bracket, maybe I'm just not understanding.

    The part: "Thinking out loud", that was not to be included in the quote (you) of my referencing your bracket.

    It was suppose to be directed to those, not using a factory Torx Bolt when mounting it.
