So you settled for less and are happy. Good for you. Many, if not all know and expect the final final tune and many have not settled for “it will come in due time”.

I am also happy with the current final as I have never used GL nor tow mode and have not had the opportunity to experience and love or hate the feature.

But yet, promising some and not saying a word as to is status and leaving many people out to dry is actually a pretty shitty business motto.

Where were these promises though? I could understand if he promised people and not delivered but I don't recall reading that. Did OVTune say this date is definitely the release, the tune will debut on, the final is complete and links will be available....? Personally, I don't recall though I may be wrong.

Is there any actual R&D/Tuning/Testing still needed for the rest of the 2.0 maps to come out or is Rafael literally just converting files (which may be a very labor intensive process, I don’t know).

So in order to gain GL and tow mode, the final tune has to be edited in vF. So those who did not purchase vF and onlu have the tune kit would not be able to get this function
So just to make everything clear and get away from hearsay, there will be a final 2.0 with gearlock and tow mode but that isnt your priority right now. Right now you’re focused on making the tune editable in vF.

Can you comment on whether you will be working on adding the features after you’re done with vF or is there other plans that will postpone the latest version of 2.0.

That's not even what we are doing. People are just taking it this way.

I would advise new customers skip to random pages in this thread.

When we say too much... People get antsy.
When we say too little, people tell us we are hanging them out to dry.
When we say nothing, people say we forgot about or moved on from tacomas.

When make an occasional post about what we are working on, we get blamed for that too.

I've found that what has been working best is say nothing, and just continue working in the background.
However doing that is now bringing about posts that we are screwing people over.

    it's a cycle.

You do not have to edit, activate, etc Gearlock using vF.
But, there will be an option to disable Gearlock (or enable) in vF. Maybe someone wants the performance map, but no gearlock?
It will be a separate version, released in both p5F and vFT format.

    nothing has been postponed.
The base version is simple. So it was released first.
The performance/map switch/gearlock version is much more complex. And there WILL be people that want to tailor it, like " I want gearlock and performance but no map switch" or "I want map switch and performance but no gearlock"
So we have to create a way for people activate / deactivate from the same file. Because we are not making 1000+ new files.
That is what is time consuming.

Did I ever mention anything about dates. My specific concern was he stated these function would be added later but there hasnt been any communication with regards to that.

That is what is time consuming. It will be done when it is done.

is it actively being worked on? Absolutely. It's a critical feature for vF Tuner even outside of 2.0 release, so they are being worked on together. To tailor it has to work in all combinations.

Im sorry, i should have reworded my first comment. Not leaving people out to dry but again no communication. This to me is the worst. I am not comparing you to other business but they are other companies that if I email them about any concern, they respond. Now this I know would get repettive if you get asked the same question, which I am sure you do, but thats where one would come on the forum and comment on the status of the operation, and whether or not you get good or bad feedback, let it be. You arent the only company that has negative feedback and you wont be the last.

I appreciate the update. Is it possible to give a HUGE WIDE OPEN ETA for those of us that are considering trading in our trucks if GL doesn’t come out relatively soon? Like are we talking Q3 2020, Q4 2020, 2021?

If you prefer not to say, I’m sure everyone completely understands. I just can’t keep towing with this truck without Gearlock. Wasn’t something that I ever even contemplated when I first bought the tune, but now I either need GL or a full-size.

I would say get a full size. Mid size trucks arent meant for towing and I do know that if in the future I ever get into travel trailers or tow haulers, I will be trading in so there isnt any worries or doubts about performance.

Thanks for you all you do @OVTune. Just Curious why you decided to get rid of ECT function all together on the final release of 2.0 base? Not bitching just curious?

I would like to say we expect this to be ready to publish in both vF format and P5F (but obviously for folks who want to tailor the file, you need vF Tuner) by end of September. But this is not a deadline, this is not a promised release date.
Disassembly and patch work is really streamlined now, so the actual patch work to set it up isn't the most cumbersome task.
The most cumbersome task of all is setting the files up, and then making 36 different versions for each ECU ID to make it P5F tolerant with different tire sizes and different gear ratios.

think of it this way. The base version with gear/tire/thx options was about 400 files.
So we have to (and are currently) making 400 versions + linking it all together to tailor through vF Tuner.

we could *likely* get it done quicker if we didn't have to make 400+ p5F tolerant files for every gear / tire size combo imagineable.

The issue is I like my truck and it’s beyond a “take it back to stock” before trade in kind of situation. The Samurai I currently flat tow (but may get a small utility trailer for it) is fairly light. The speed limits here in AZ just make it difficult to tow with. Im either revving the crap out of the motor in 4th gear or gear hunting in 5th.
