Not in accounting but didn't stray too far in the business realm, Info Systems here, so I too spend my fair share of way too much time in spreadsheets.

Oh man, that one flew right over my head. I was thinking Jericho, and was struggling. Well, it is Utah. I assume there are some biblical ties.

His job duties at CIA-TFAD were VERY exaggerated, he'd be lucky to ever leave DC. But the first 5 minutes were roughly accurate:

True. I am guilty of the Pro grill. I've heard that Toyota charges upwards of $450 for the OEM garnish now. I want to say I paid like $30 for it.

Its mysterious to me too, man. I can't focus on standard costing for 5 seconds, yet I can spend an hour engineering a spreadsheet to give me an answer to a stupid question posed like: How many tons of domestic grape skins do we need to melt all the snow in the US roadways maintaining a safety margin in case of wildfires.

I actually get really frustrated by that sometimes.

I remember the grapes. It is what it is. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

So, don't dodge the second question. Cough it up.

End of budget season. Then Oct to Dec is usually pretty quiet as people burn their vacation post-budget plus the holidays.

I'm like 39 years from full retirement

I hate budget season too. Them "Give us your budget for next year." Me "tell me what the business is planning on doing because my budget needs are driven by business activity." Them "We don't know what the business is going to do, give us your best guess." Me makes best guess and doubles it figuring they'll give me half of what I ask for. Them "OK 2X budget approved." Me ":annoyed: I don't have a big enough staff to spend that budget." That is not how the budget game is supposed to be played.

I mean, thats till SS retirement at 67. I hope to be not working around 60. I think I'd lose my mind if I was idle before that.

This sounds like the best budget season ever. I get like a quarter of what I requested and then I'm told to do twice the work that was slated.

Yeah, no . . . That place had monthly variance reports and I had to explain any amount over or under budget. Being +- 5% wasn't a problem, but more than that an you had some splaining to do. I had to go to the CFO and explain the mistake. It wasn't a comfortable conversation.

Yep, I have to do that too. I find it's a much more uncomfortable conversation when you spend too much.
