Awesome news all around, sounds like the 7.3 is doing pretty well! You'll have to put up some pictures of the new bed once you get it sorted. I like the plan and bet it will look great once you're done.

The worst part of that bed repair will be my outstanding welding skills! :welder:

For the most part, I've been daily driving it until recently. I want to get the frame all sandblasted and rustproofed. I definitely want this truck to be a survivor! It has endured 22 years and 132k miles so far.

I also added some Pioneer speakers, an Alpine iLX-w650, and a Kenwood subwoofer behind the bench.

I'm loving this truck, and instead of modding this to hell and back, I'm trying to just kinda resto-mod it, if that makes sense? I want to keep the body and badging as accurate as possible, keep the frame from being New Englanded, and clean up some rust here and there that is just starting on the bottom inside edges of the doors and the pinch welds.

And on top of it all, if I didn't mention, I'm the service manager at a Ford dealership up here! Life is good!

Hey... Buddy, Pal, how's it going?

The service departments down here sort of suck. I haven't found one that's been willing to help with any sort of programming (and I'm talking basic stuff, things I've been able to do myself inside of 5 minutes with ForScan). I've been slowly learning to be my own shade tree diesel mechanic, whole garage reeks of diesel from the fuel filter change. I'm not going to be getting into anything exciting with tunes or deletes though although I'd love to get rid of that EGR...

Hm.. ford service eh? Ever hear of paint bubbling up on a hood for a 2016 ford fusion...? My dealership is playing dumb and saying they have never seen it before. It's a CPO'd vehicle past it's base warranty.

What color is it? Since I've owned a few Super Duty's in a short period of time, I was able to closely compare the models side by side. My '18 had a hood insulator, didn't think anything of it. My '19 was black and did not have a hood insulator (I ended up buying one for it). Driving in the rain, water would steam off the front of the hood at a stop light. When I detailed it, you could tell there was paint damage that I couldn't correct with my expertise (DA orbital polisher wouldn't touch the damage, it was pretty bad when you looked up close). It wasn't bubbling yet, but something was clearly going on and I suspect it was due to the high heat. I pulled the insulator and put it on my '19 to help protect the paint. Where I'm going with this is they seemed to only put those insulators on specific models and I do think it made a difference in how the paint held up. The black truck was a '19 with only 24k miles on it so it hadn't been exposed to THAT much sun to show that sort of damage.

Mine is so bad, to the point where I've repeatedly been astonished by just how bad they are. Disorganized, never wants to acknowledge anything. Problem is, anywhere else is so far from home or work.

Although my 2020 had front and rear cameras that sometimes act up and when I took it in they said they ordered all four cameras to replace them, so that was surprising. Maybe they've turned a new leaf.

It's the bright ford blue color. I read online it's common for aluminum hoods and ford paint..?

We don't see much in the way of diesel, but we do have a few fleets that we service. Mostly, stuff with the old 6.0's that they've nursed along.

I vote delete all the emissions crap! It'll make that 6.7 last forever. The only real issues I've seen with the 6.7's has been EGR or DPF related, whether it be component failures or sensors. Granted, most of the issues are with the 11-14/15 motors, the newer ones have been pretty solid!

That being said, I know the People's Republic of Massachusistan will not be too happy about that, but I know there are tunes that will just disable the EGR, and I have seen people who painstakingly disassemble the DPF torpedo to gut out the internals and make it one UUUGE camouflaged straight pipe. :drevil:

I have heard of that! I have a customer with an Explorer whose leading edge of the hood is doing the same thing.

I.... I had to let her go. :pout: :rain:

I had only driven it 5,000 miles in 2 years. It was just sitting in the driveway looking sad, it needed the manifold gaskets replaced.. It was more work than I had the time or effort for.

She went to a new home near Berlin, I'm friends with the owner on FB, and I have right of first refusal if he gets tired of it.
    Hey Rob!

Yeah... Ford Ford Ford. GM vehicles are still garbage :bananadead::crapstorm::bucket:

Mine is mortgage/taxes/escrow about 1300. Base mortgage is maybe 900.

Been here since 2005 and refinanced twice, once we cashed out what little equity we had to get siding done and to lower the rate. Second time was another rate drop. We pay pretty aggressively on it, always thrown at least $50-100 extra per month. In more recent years more like $300-400 a month. If I remember right, 7 years left on the 30 year note.

The original owner replaced all the siding with new vinyl not long before he died based on the documents I found in the basement. He actually picked a color that I like. It is a brown fake wood texture. The company went out of business and I cracked some corners so I bought some similar ones from Georgia Pacific to swap them. They aren't far enough off to notice unless you are standing right next to them, fortunately.

I say them. I bought four to do the front and have swapped one so far. Two more are damaged. The one took me quite a while so my desire to do the others hasn't been very high.
