I didn't buy this truck 4 gas mileage nor did I even look at the sticker for that. I look at my gas gauge and put gas in it when it needs it. I dont even look at the price at the pump when I fuel up. Is this bad?

Started using Fuelly about 40k miles ago (55k on the truck).

    For a tank of gas:
    Average 18.8 mpg
    Best 24 Mpg
    Worst single digits...

Better than driving around town looking for the cheapest gas.

If you can live without the extra 120hp... I got over 27mpg on a trip south and managed to get the same figure on a trip back from Wharton around 80 miles 3/4 highway with shore traffic and 1/4 local... pretty good but I get made fun of on these boards for hypermiling =)

My favorite part of the mpg is that I can go 420+ miles per tank!

    mpg.jpg

Note I have a 4 cylinder and the base model tires so 245/75R16 Firestones (30lbs each)

I trust that display Indicated trip mpg about zero, especially for a short trip. I compute my mpg by fillups The old school way and it never is as high as that indicates on the screen. Mpg per whole tank full is your real milage.

Me too but I've done it enough times to see it is about .3/.4 high so I stopped caring. Over a whole tank I tend to average around 24mpg with mostly local driving and just being dumb with ECT, on those trips my trip mpg says 20ish.

Short trip mpg means nothing your whole tank avg mpg is what you get.

I edited it, 24mpg is what I typically get for a whole tank. Mind you this is for mostly 8 mile trips to Lowes or something...

The way I drive, I got in a trip to Wharton, off-roading through some random dirt roads, plus Atlantic City and back to North jersey around (200 miles total) on less than half a tank of gas... hahaha I love this truck!

In my old V6 Ranger I'd have used almost the whole tank as I got maybe 270 miles out of 18 gallons... maybe...

That’s excellent milage, I typically get 21 to 21.5 mpg on long highway trips at 65-75 mph, mostly at 75, and that’s with my 2.7L I4, stock tires.

245 Firestones or the wider 265 Goodyears? My Ranger taught me to hypermile especially when gas was like 4 bucks a gallon... I tend to drive barefoot too, let's me feel the pedal more. Seems weird I know but my wife and I get around 5mpg difference in either car (she think's she's Mario Andretti).

    Came with 16R 245 Hankooks o_O
Smooth running tire though, quiet. Typically run at 33psi. The milage I listed was on Interstates usually on cruise control I’m sure I would get better milage without the cruise on.

I've swapped to my 265/16 tires on my truck. I don't think it made any difference in fuel mileage. Still averaging a bit over 23 mpg.

Yeah cruise is awful, downshifts 2 gears then blasts you back to whatever speed and then jams on the brakes once radar sense a rabbit... wait that's pretty much how my wife drives...

I don't really care about my mpg that much anymore as I don't drive nearly as much as I used to (90 mile daily commute) but my old habits it's just fun to see how high I can get it. Then I'll do an Italian tune up on my 4 banger and run her out to 6k up a hill cause why not.

The first time that happened to me I about shitz my pants, then I realized how smooth running this engine is at redline
I still use cruise all the time on highways and love the radar adaptive cruise. But I’ve learned when I get behind a slower vehicle to shut it off when getting in the left lane to pass otherwise it goes “oh shit I’m 5 miles under the cruise setting I better drop a gear and floor it!” Lol

These mpg threads are usually 95% flex. “I get this many miles.” “I don’t care about this - or anything!“ “I’m bad at driving calmly!” “I have E-load tires and a 3” lift!“ “When will Mother love me?” “What do you expect from a truck!” “I’m too busy “wheelin!’”

It’s a therapist’s couch full of bro farts. Let people vent.
