Hi y’all. I too have searched the forums and found the simple answers but not the right one yet - yes I’ve followed the instructions for engaging the 4 low on the visor. 4 low not working while 4 hi works flawlessly. Took it to the shop. They replaced the transfer case and both position sensors saying either the motor or the fork had failed. Still won’t engage 4 low - it just beeps and now they’re doing further diagnostics. Hoping someone else has some ideas. Ecu? Switch? 2005 v6 TRD extra cab automatic.

Thanks in advance! Hope I haven’t dug too big a hole by taking it to a non-Toyota tranny shop that’s done good work for me before.

OMG... Before turning the dial to L4, did you put the tranny in N Neutral (not P Park) if an automatic, or fully depress the clutch if a manual?

When I had problems with this the fix was amazingly simple. The sensor behind the clutch pedal that tells the truck whether or not the clutch is fully depressed was just loose or moved back. I can't remember what it was exactly but it took about a minute to "fix". basically even though the clutch pedal was depressed the truck didnt know. I often had to press the clutch start cancel button to start the truck for the same reason. You may have the equivalent problem in the auto?

When I was having the problem someone also suggested I check the airlines going into the transfer case because they often crack at the end. Mine was cracked. but if you replaced the whole thing, that's probably not the problem.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
He would also have starting issues, if that were the case. Are you having starting issues too, OP? It only starts in neutral, or clutch cancel?

My clutch needs to be 100% down to start. Not 95%, not 99%, full send 100% down. Sometimes I still have a mini heart attack thinking my truck doesn't start
