Your point? Was it my only question? No. I figured I would ask that while I was asking the other questions because it popped in my head.

As far as searching, I stated in my post about how I have a head injury (TBI) so searching and trying to focus is difficult. I do still try using the search though.

My point of posting this thread was no to vent but to maybe shed some light on those that frequently complain and making unnecessary remarks. Yes that was what noneck had written in the thread but he got mad at my comment back to him and pmed me with some swearing and whatnot. It is rather uncalled for. If you ask a question that is negatively directed at me I will make you feel rather stupid. I'm not here to deal with people's negativity just to learn what you all already know so I don't make dumb decisions when I buy my truck.

If there is a thread created from a noob such as myself and it pisses you off, just move on rather than making dumb comments is all I am saying.

No disrespect intended to anyone. Cheers

Take your own advice pal. If someone makes a comment you don't like, ignore it and move on.

As far as the PM, like Jester said, report it to the mods but none of the public comments in your other thread warranted a public flaming of a particular member.

I do my best to answer repetitive questions with an answer and/or links.

then I end it with "search."

Oh yeah. I understand the complications of a TBI, but using the search function wouldn't be anymore different/mentally difficult than starting a thread calling a member out, asking a question, or going over the points of a discussion.

You're focusing on this thread. So you should be able to focus when using the search feature. Either way, those responses are common around here. Just ignore them and you'll get your question answered eventually.

It is a lot harder weeding through the searches than it is focusing on one thread...

any ways I thought it was worth a shot trying to prevent future tw members from future bs. Oh well

yeah just ignore the guys that just tell you to "search". I've done it a few times but I realized I was giving him a free bump to the top for someone else to deal with. SO now I try to answer.

But another good thing to do is after your start your thread with a noob question, check out the "similar threads" section at the bottom of the page and see if your answer is in there. If it is, reply your own thread saying you found your answer.

OP i agree 1000% its not hard to answer a question and then nicely point out the search feature. I for one love TW for a majority of the awesome info and great people. but when i refer someone to the site and they get flamed for asking a simple question it embarrasses me. The fact that i said "join tw, great guys" and they get flamed for asking if 265/75s fit without a lift. when i first joined i didnt know about the search. it was pointed out in a nice manner and ive used it since. No flaming needed. One guy asked for pictures of 4x4 LT trucks and he got jumped on hard... people go overboard with "search or GTFO"

There are some things you can do to reduce the number of hits. If you just type in a search term, it'll blast you with 499 threads of stuff which may or may not be relevant. Try doing a "Title's Only" search for your term or selecting individual forums.

If you use the advanced feature, you can limit it to certain forums (e.g. Wheels & Tires).

So if I wanted to find what tires fit on my truck I'd do the following in the advanced section of the search:
"Tires fit" (Titles Only) + Wheels & Tires section. Yields 34 threads which are probably all relevant to which tires will fit the truck.

So if I was looking for 2011 tacoma stuff, it I just search on 2011, it'll generate 499 threads.

If I do a titles only search on 2011, it drops down to 252 threads. If I do a 2011 titles only search on the 2nd Gen forum (eliminates all forums but 2nd gen so no for sale stuff), it drops to 142 results. Adding relevant terms can also narrow the results.

If you get too few hits, just remove some of the criteria. So if I searched for "2011 difference", titles only in the 2nd Gen forum, I get 0 hits.

If I remove the titles only option, and search on "2011 difference" it jumps to 39 hits (the third may answer the question).

I have a link in my signature to a how-to that can help with searching. Some of the boolean functions don't work yet as the forum was recently updated but it's being worked on.
