Drew an Antelope tag again this year. Don’t really know how I feel about it. Been kinda in a slump lately as far as hunting goes. Guess I’ll have to go find some coyotes to get the juices flowin.

I'm getting excited for this deer season. I won a controlled hunt in a +9,000 acre wildlife refuge. It's archery only, 1 buck and 1 doe, lasts for the entire month of November and only 300 people won permits.

Best part is I work 3 minutes away from one of the parking areas for the refuge. I'll be getting off work a 3:30 and doing a lot of evening hunts! :woot:

    Nice!

I hunt my local watershed area and it's controlled hunt slug gun only and Bow only areas.
I have several thousand acres to hunt, seemingly not possible in Southern ct, but it's here.

Yesterday was the first day I could go in to the Bow only area, so I promptly set up my ladder at daybreak.
Same tree for the last 10 years and I usually score multiple deer from it.

I hunt several spots, but always return to this ladder.
Public Land sucks, But one has to make the most of what is offered.

I have it cable locked, but if someone want to steal a $59 ladder and get it out of the woods, have at it.

Only issue I had was 4 years ago.
Some wad took out the bolts between ladder sections and loosened the straps.
I always check the ladders integrity before I go up.
would have been a surprise going up in the dark like that.

Ya, I have never understood the reason for killing snakes, in my opinion they do a lot of good. don't get me wrong I am no animal rights advocate or anything like that, I have done a lot of hunting in my day. However over the years I have read so many articles about killing snakes and have always wondered why?. I find them around the outbuildings every now and then, not all rattlers, i just give them a wide berth, I think it is one of the reasons my rodent population is never very bad. don't take this the wrong way, as i don't really care how many you take out, but I have always wondered why. jmop
